This doesn't sound good. When was the last time ANY airline suspended flights while they check out 'security arrangements;'....let alone for a whole week!
Hmmmm....what's going on???

As the title and this link explains. Flights were cancelled today at Heathrow to Cairo amid 'security checks' which will take a whole week.

"We constantly review our security arrangements at all our airports around the world and have suspended flights to Cairo for seven days as a precaution to allow for further assessment. "The safety and security of our customers and crew is always our priority, and we would never operate an aircraft unless it was safe to do so."

Link

No warning, just cancelled, even people who were boarded on their plane were handed letters from BA and they had to disembark!
If it was a 'Security' 'thing'...surely they knew it was coming up?

Any thoughts?

Pretty obvious that they have picked up signals of some sort or terror plot associated with that route from some source.

Haven't seen or heard of any that's yet, has anyone?

My guess it would be Iranian back surrogates for the taking of that tanker in Gibraltar. Hezbollah or a number of Palestinian factions. AQ and the MB are in the Sinai as well.

Better safe than blown up.

Just a thought......could their flights be endangered by a possible missile launch on Iran ?? The question would be from where ?

Unlikely as there would be more airlines and airports being careful. Sounds like a specific threat.

Why would we launch a strike on Iran? They will have to step up their game if they want that.

This time, it looks like the U.N. is heading up the investigation...

CAIRO – 18 July 2017: A high level security delegation affiliated to the United Nations Security Council Counter-Terrorism Committee (CTC) will begin inspections of security measures practiced in Terminal 2 at Cairo International Airport on Wednesday.

I notice that the U.K. had a similar security check done in August 2017. It sounds like something is going on, but they're making it sound like it's all for preliminary security reasons...

Earlier, a number of European airlines have banned flights to Egypt and Sharm El-Sheikh city over security concerns following an October 2015 crash of a Russian aircraft in the Sinai that resulted in the death of all 224 people on board.

I was thinking a possible strike by Britain....or NATO, not an exclusive American strike.

Not their style to go Unilateral. Especially with the UK's government in transition. NATO attacking isn't in the cards at this moment either.

If and when Iran is attacked........ They will know it and who is doing it.

Again no need to attack them yet. They will probably cross that line but not yet.

I would have to disagree...only to put out the thought of think outside the box. Britain beng in transition with a head of Government is an ideal time to 'strike'. T May wasn't even at the COBRA meeting when the Iranians took control of our ship....that speaks volumes in my book. People 'behind the scenes' are in control.
Anything with the name British aka Airways/Telecom always raises my suspicions that they are under control not so much from the Government, but our security forces. For which I am thankful in a weird way

Where would a missile be launched at Iran that would traverse Egypt ?
If so , I imagine that all flights to the Middle East would be suspended.

I say threats , and let us hope that is all there is
Iran has to be addressed sometime soon
Iran would not overtly do anything.
They would have one of the terrorist groups they sponsor act.

Echoing others in this thread, why on Earth would a missile strike be launched on Iran (any location? haha). A tanker has been seized, yes. No need to escalate the situation anymore than it has been already.

People really do need to calm down about this. This isn't 2001 or 2003 or 2004. There is currently no impetus or reason to "invade" Iran or whatever. Especially not over a British-flagged commercial vessel. Let's all think rationally here, please.
