The USA...did THIS!

Not quite.

The US provided the money.

The WORLD provided the scientists and technician that made it happen.

Of course, all those British, German and Russian flags up on the moon, getting crowded up there, huh?

Lol, what a joke 👎

So you think it's a joke. Then i suggest you read this.

Yet what is overlooked is that while the great bulk of those involved were indeed American citizens, there was also a significant foreign contribution, in particular from Britain. One engineer was so important that President Nixon would later admit that without his work, the Moon landing of July 21, 1969 would have been impossible

www.telegraph.co.uk...

One particular contribution from outside the US was Thomas Francis Bacon The British Engineer supplied The Fuel Cells for Apollo 11.

As history relates, the Apollo moonshot was a success and a few days after the astronauts’ return Tom Bacon received a letter from Dick Foley of Pratt and Whitney saying ‘please accept my personal congratulations for the contribution your fuel cells made to Apollo XI. The three power plants performed flawlessly and provided about 400 kilo watt hours of electrical energy during the mission. This raises to 23 fuel cell power plants which have flown to date. Your satisfaction must be very great that your pioneering efforts have made this possible and practicable’.

And this from President Nixon.

On a visit to the United States he met the President who put his arm around Tom’s shoulders and said ‘Without you Tom, we wouldn’t have gotten to the Moon’
[/quote

royalsocietypublishing.org...

Bacon was one of many scientists from around the world who worked on Apollo 11.

Take you bloody head out of the sand and due some actual research.

The way you're framing it there might as well have been no Americans working on the Apollo program.

Other nations contributed to the success of the Apollo program, but it was still an American endeavor.

I think a lot of people dislike America, because they are so loud and overly patriotic that it just becomes cringe. 🙄

This!

I would note though that it doesn’t apply to all Americans. But it is an American stereotype that this thread is so far reinforcing.

Wait a minute.
Are you forgetting where you are from?
The British have a long history of pomp and circumstance brimming with with pride of King and country.
Probably still would be if you hadn't lost your empire.

Geez...it's not like the USA had any role in Great Britain not speaking German now.

Well I would say the Canadians and Russians had a pretty big role in that too.
But not as big of a role as the English Channel..

My late father-in-law was in the RAF.

He always said that if it wasn't for the Americans bombers and fighters, the British air force would've been completely wiped out.

After 4 years living in Europe I think its more along the lines of projecting their issues onto us, almost every single thing they like to point at and complain when it comes to Americans I saw in Europe in different nations including some of the "enlightened" ones.

I do have astigmatism and wear glasses, but I'm not blind.

As this was an American initiated and endeavor, it is our glory, so YES, DEAL WITH IT 😌

Little known fact...the first flag in the moon was actually soviet.

There was also a Union Jack on the Apollo 11 lander drawn by a British engineer who worked on the mission.

The Russians?? Lol

Oh don’t doubt they got their fair of nazi scientists, but maybe not...

Countless people fled away from the red army and toward d the allies.. and I would assume since scientists tend to be smarter than most.. they would do the same..

Being an American obviously our history is more familiar to me.

When has nationalism not gone poorly..

Literally I don’t think there has been an historical atrocity in history not perpetrated by nationalists..

To get people to do really sick stuff you have to dehumanize the enemy.. traditionally the way cultures do that is nationalism..

“Screw the world/area/whatever !!! Let’s just worry about us!!”

“It doesn’t matter what happens to them... they are not us..”

Literally EVERY atrocity in history that I can think of, was perpetrated by the conservative nationalist faction of whatever country..

The Gemini and redstone programs before the apollo missions had fuel cells too. Dont think that one man is responsible for the entire fuel cell team.
He might have contributed greatly but so did others.
The Americans managed to put it all together.

It's a dickish thread that you cannot tear yourself away from, it appears?

Or.. nah, won't say it.

Use your ESP..

Nothing wrong with being patriotic. At all.

Holy Christ you are a broken record.

We put a human being on another world. One that we had been staring at in wonder since before we came down from the trees.

It was a tremendous accomplishment for all involved and a huge feather in the US cap, regardless of your poo pooing it.
