If it's what their voters want I got no issue with it.

But what I think is that this is what the news should be doing.

I'm tired of race baiting headlines like BLACK man does thing, MUSLIM does thing, immigrant does thing. I never see the headline WHITE man does thing. White guys are always just called a man... I think the news does this on purpose to stoke hate and get ratings.

Why not just use the word person.
A person was arrested today for robbing a store. A person was caught plotting a crime. I'm not saying hide the info, just put it in the article and not the headline. Putting that info in the headline makes it seem like that's the most important part.

Only time we need race,gender, religious descriptors is when they need our help finding someone. Be on the look out for a muslim man that robbed a bank.
