I'm sure a lot of people outside of the US think we are a bunch of fear mongering haters over here. That is totally not the case. I'd actually say the opposite. We love immigrants.

That's very true! I, for one, don't hate the immigrants or the migrants. What I hate is the ineffectual idiot run government that can't or won't control the nation's borders but at the same time extorts taxes out of the people born in the US and working in the US to pay for the people it doesn't even try to keep out of the country.

Think I'm alone in this? Just wait for the first Ebola outbreak!

That's definitely not true; America is a nation of racists! The Blacks hate the Whites, the HIspanics hate the Anglo's. And a lot of Anglo's increasingly hate everyone else. This country was born in the original sin of slavery and is forever condemned by its history and the only real solution to that is to break it up and re-found it with a new constitution.

Of course Americans don't hate immigrants. Sure, there's a tiny fraction of a percentage of the population with precisely zero power and influence that would prefer the country stayed nice and white. They are completely exaggerated by the media. Indeed, the ONLY power these people have is because of the media's obsession with making it seem like they're actually relevant.

The reason open borders nutjobs have to pretend Americans hate immigrants is because they can't factually support their absurd positions. They make no logical or practical sense, so they have to make things up. It's the same as the abortion issue. You can't argue factually or logically that you're not taking a human life, so you have to pretend that anyone that's against abortion hates women and wants to oppress them. Arguing the actual issue isn't an option.

Also, America operates a bit differently than many nations.

We have the Federal, state, and local levels of governance. Flint falls under local, and they have mismanaged it into the ground. There is a long story about that, mainly local corruption (those who are guilty should be brought to justice).

That said, I'd be hard pressed how anyone in Flint could ever trust their politicians again after being lied to so many times about the water being safe. We even had a president go there and drink the water to symbolically show it's safe. Many people have left exacerbating the problem by bringing their revenue with them. If I lived there, I'd be one of the people who left.

We're far from unique with man made disasters effecting communities.

Everybody hates immigrants but it's not because they are immigrants. Some immigrants are real a**holes. Like the immigrant Muslim playing and singing his prayer music loud at 3AM in an apartment complex with thin walls. Or, the illegal alien that has been in the country 20 years with no plans on becoming a real citizen. Or the ones that kill, rob rape. Everybody hates those for sure. I hate the Mecca journey Muslims because they have caused an enormous amount of grief at work. They take off over a month, totally exceed their annual leave and stress everyone out covering for them. Oh, and there is no way to contact them for basic questions about their job they dumped on me for 6 weeks.

People can be assholes, I know plenty of American ones. Where you come from doesn't really change if you're a good person or not. That is a result of choices an individual makes, and the aspirations to become better.
