Funny, the word “I” hasn’t changed but the word “pledge” has become “want”
People don’t want to give anymore but want to “receive more”
It’s over

It’s like the “Lords Prayer” lost on christians now, no idea what it says or means, just something to recite

What year is this? It's missing "under God" when he recites it and I know that was added in at a later time.

Edit: 1969 video. Not that long ago.

I attended HS in the 90's and we said the pledge every day from kindergarten on. I don't remember once saying it w/o meaning or sincerity or projection (voice tone/sound/volume). We didn't mumble through it. We didn't say it under out breaths. We didn't "mouth" it (like lip syncing) relying on others voices to fill the room.

We may have been tired of saying it and didn't take it "seriously" b/c we had said it just 24 hours ago - we hadn't gone through anything or been witness to anything that would have changed our opinion in the last 24 hours.

I look at what is happening in our country today (politics, social movements, etc) and I wonder if I would say the pledge the same way, with the same conviction. It is sad to think that people might not feel they can or want to say the pledge.

There are still plenty of people who love this Country. It is sad what we have been experiencing as it is not like it used to be. Things are chaotic and unkind, but...Still...there are a great number of beautiful people here.

This video is amazingly patriotic, recognizing veterans, the whole audience saying the pledge, and their unique electric guitar take on the anthem was pretty cool too. Enjoy and be Proud of your freedoms!

The vid is from 2016 but hey patriotism never gets old! Lol.
