Trump Democrats?

The linked to NPR interview topic is "Lawmakers Leave Migrant Detention Facilities With Stories Of Despair" and the interview consists of NPR anchor Steve Inskeep discussing conditions in migrant detention facilities on the southern border with Democratic Representative Norma Torres of California. Right now the link brings you to the audio interview but in a few hours the full transcript will also posted to the link.

During the interview, starting at the 3:50 mark, Inskeep asks the Congresswoman who or what she blames for the horrible conditions she had been describing in the previous 4 minutes of the interview. The Congresswoman starts to list of her blames and at around the 4 minute mark she lays blame on "Trump Democrats".

According to Democratic Representative Norma Torres some of the blame for the conditions at these detention facilities resides with Democrats who recently voted positively on a bill that would increase funding for these facilities. She was disappointed in these fellow Democrats agreeing to pass the Senate version of the funding bill and effectively siding with Donald Trump on this narrow point rather than fighting for a more All Or Nothing approach to the issue. Because of their transgressions Torres coins a new name for these traders to her party.... "Trump Democrats".

In fact the NPR interviewer is taken back by the new term given to Democrats who chose to brake progressive ranks and opted to increase funding to the detention facilities rather than continue the resistance against Trump; in a post interview analysis with another NPR journalist Inskeep, starting at 5:25, questions the journalist about Torre's new attack on fellow Democrats calling them "Trump Democrats".

Is this a new trend where we will start to see Democrats fighting each other over "resisting at all costs" and "compromising to get important work done"? I certainly hope so; and I hope those who are willing to compromise win the fight for all our sake.

Hilarious. A few months ago they were telling us that there was no crisis and it was just a distraction. Now all of a sudden it is a crisis and Trumps fault.

What kind of looney land do these politicians live in and why the MSM won't call them out on their hypocrisy is mindboggling.

What everyone needs to understand is that the radicals have hijacked the Democrat party. If you are a left leaning person, you need to take a good, long look at the radicals in your party and understand that if you cannot abide that, they will come for you the same way they come for us.

There is no more Democrat and Republican, but we're all traditional Americans.

This new breed is a form of ideological, religious zealot, and if you aren't them, they'll burn you for a heretic.

In this case, you need to start thinking over your options. I'm not asking you to be like us. What I'm asking you to do is consider an alliance long enough to beat them, take back your party and because our loyal opposition again. We can work with you. We can find compromises that work with you because between the two of us, we really do want this country to work under the COTUS. They want to use it as toilet paper because they want what they want when they want it and the toilet paper gets in the way.

Please, help us get rid of them, and then restore sanity to your party again.

As far as the Leftists and their MSM cadre are concerned, the US is a nation of immigrants and victims; victims of white supremacy and the white male patriarchy and the cisgendered homophobic white males and their Steppford wives who have babies instead of abortions and who marry within their own racial tribal grouping. These people are the REAL AMERICANS! "Traditional Americans" are the enemy oppressors of the REAL AMERICANS!

No insult intended, but you really need to bone up on Leftist ideology and teachings as presently forming the bedrock of University and College educational curriculum today. Otherwise, (assuming you're a traditional American) you'll never understood why you were clubbed with a crow bar at the grocery store parking lot.

I'm talking about Democrats, not the modern breed, but the more blue collar, Kennedy style type. The ones still voting Democrat because it's what their fathers and grandfathers did, not necessarily because they believe in the radical left.

I think we need to be really careful here and DEFINE what it is we mean by "resist" and "all or nothing"

Is someone trying to spin that in a way to sound like "Real democrats are against fixing the conditions at these detention centers by voting against increases to their funding"


However true that is, its a HALF TRUTH becoming disjointed from the actual goal.

The FULL TRUTH is, yes, Resist and OPPOSE funding increases to these facilities, because instead, these facilities should be SHUT DOWN and CLOSED. We shouldn't be putting people into internment camps to begin with for simply crossing illegally.

Agreed. They should be detained, taken directly to the nearest airport and put on the first plane straight back to their country of origin. No need to keep them in a facility.

The funniest part of her comments is the exact opposite is true. The Democrats who refused to compromise with Trump and the Republicans are the ones actually responsible for those conditions, because they held up the funding CBP needed to properly run the facilities.

They don't care about those people.

You would have 10s of millions of people flooding into this country every year. Our economy would collapse.

I took international business in college, I had to take alot of economics courses. The massive population growth wouldnt have as many negative impacts as you think.

Mexicos GDP would shrink drastically, ours would grow drastically.

First of all, most illegals are not coming from Mehico, at this point.

Second of all, what would lead you to believe the economic positives would outweigh the draw on our social programs?

If you need a modern, relevant example, look at what has happened in Europe, with the huge influx of immigrants.

They take far more than they contribute, and demand more, and more all the time.
