The Scottish government has abandoned plans that would have allowed anyone over 16 to change their legal gender within a day or brief waiting period...[snip]...Opponents of the proposals said they put women at risk by allowing male-bodied people access to changing rooms as well as rape crisis centres and women’s prisons...[snip]...First Minister Nicola Sturgeon said the concerns were “misplaced” but she was forced to shelve the plans after ministerial colleagues, MPs and MSPs rebelled.

The concerns were NOT "misplaced" as these concerns have been become reality, and Ms. Sturgeon knows it... so that's an outright lie. The article cites two examples (of MANY!):

The Sunday Times reports that Scotland’s prison service, which operates a de facto self-identification policy, is to review it after a whistleblower claimed a small number of trans prisoners in Scotland’s female jails were responsible for a “quite horrific” number of incidents, among them threats of rape.

Earlier this year, Katie Dolatowski, 18, who was born male was sent to live in a women-only hostel after sexually assaulting a 10-year-old girl.

It is no doubt for this very reason that the critters in Scotland tried to pass this through without even consulting women, nor conducting the proper impact assessments on women -- the very ones who would be most negatively affected and most likely harmed by self-ID. And, of course, once word did get out and women started organizing and fighting back, the Trans Taliban tried their best to shut them up and shut them down. Trying to silence any and all dissent is standard operating procedure among Trans Activists, and is happening everywhere, not just in Scotland.

SNP MSP Joan McAlpine played a key part in opposing the plans. She said trans activists had attempted to prevent discussion because “their arguments wouldn’t stand up to debate”.

To politicians south of the border also facing abuse for similar reasons, she said: “I know there are people in Westminster who feel like me but don’t speak up. Feel the fear and do it anyway.”

Finally, remember this is all to allow grown ass men with a sexual fetish to force us all into role playing for them. This isn't about transsexuals with gender dysphoria (who want no part of this Trans Activism, and who are actually being hurt by this Trans Activism). That's perfect -- I love it! And these ladies definitely deserve it. They had to deal with abuse from their own authorities and government officials -- as well as the Trans Taliban -- being demeaned and deplatformed by those elected to represent them. It was shameful.

OPS? "Operatives"? Other Posters? I'm not sure what you mean!

But generally, I'm not sure why the lack of response from several quarters. Beyond the reporting of the event, and crediting/blaming women (depending on the perspective), I haven't found any direct responses from Trans or LGBT organizations.

I'm sure it will come though.

I tried to edit the OP, but I have "exceeded" my window for editing. So I just have to add this as a comment.

In reading around the web, looking for more info, it seems "delays" might be more accurate than "abandons"; as in "Scottish government DELAYS plans..." rather than abandons altogether.

The rumor is that officials want to put off any decision until after the 2021 elections because they fear further public backlash, and their efforts will be picked up again after the election.

I think this is great news. Evidently there are no Mensa members who are part of the Scottish government. Who in their right mind would conclude there wouldn't be a problem with a biological male imprisoned in a women's prison? Anyone?

It's absolutely mind boggling, isn't it? The complete and utter disregard for the safety and well being of women while magnifying the slightest slight on behalf of men -- even violent men! -- identifying as women.

I really believe Scotland critters thought they could sneak this through. When they couldn't, they thought abusing and threatening women would shut them up.

This is good news indeed, even if only temporary. I doubt the backlash will recede any time soon.

I really don't think that's it. Women have been called lots of things for fighting the Trans Agenda, and mostly by men, including men in government offices, and especially men identifying as "women." This is a hard won fight. And it came by the hairs of their chinny chin chins.

I think the Trans Agenda will implode on its own. The only questions is how much damage will be done before that time comes. Refusing to police their own, refusing to accept any limitations on their gender "identity," refusing to give kids any options except puberty blockers and cross-hormones, etc., and refusing to accept even reasonable for safeguards for women and children, is ALL discrediting their movement to ever greater extents. They have only enjoyed this much success because the campaign to silence dissenters has kept most of the public ignorant and unaware.

For example, I think the analysis of prisoners in England, which showed about half of all violent sex offenders identify as "women", and the bad behavior of the men identifying as "women" who sexually assaulted women after being placed in the women's prison, prove just how wrong these policies are. And the more the public knows, the more their movement will fall apart under its own weight.

But in the meantime, we have children being multilated and sterilized, girls' and womens' sports being dominated effectively erasing them from the competition, women and girls being endangered in what should be safe spaces... too many people being harmed. Eventually such situations will lead to lawsuits, and quite likely some arrests.

No one can hide the ugly truth forever.
