My views on the Part 1 Dem debate

Welp, here be my analysis of the first part of the Dem debates. It was ok, but I do have a few gripes. First of all, not nearly enough hosts. Five hosts is not a very shy number, I get it, and I’m not suggesting going as high as one host per candidate... but a couple extra would have brought some needed variety.

Let’s get into my impressions of the candidates.

Inslee is cool and I like his message but I don’t know if I can do that lisp. I know, I know, totally shallow of me to leverage the world climate against a lisp, but I just can’t do it. I’m shallow, kill me. Also, he's done everything first, like Trump.

Booker – What eye do I look at?

Klobuchar – Damn that is a tough bitch. I now totally believe the stories that she throws shoes and stuff at staff. I also like her more.

Delaney – Isn’t he like a little angry Elmer Fudd? That just got more angry and red through the event as they refused to let him talk?

Castro – Ooooh, I just get a bad vibe from this guy. I think his success along with his good looks just pushed him from confident into arrogant. I just don’t get any sense of humility from him and I don’t like that. He might be the antichrist. I don’t know, I don’t have proof, but it’s worth looking into. Shave his scalp for a triple six someone.

Gabbard – Was she just repeating what someone was saying in her ear? The whole time I felt her speech was a little delayed, it was hard to listen to. Like when you have headphones on and you hear yourself with a delay, so your speech tries to adjust and slow down. I felt like she was always at 97-98% speed, and she just needed a wee push to get to normal. Odd. Also, doesn’t answer questions asked.

Warren – Meh. She’s good at this. But nothing really caught my eye. She would be in my top 3 winners of the night, but that does not say much.

O’Rourke – Donde esta la zapateria?

Ohio Tim – Like this guy. A lot. Never heard him speak before. You notice how he always starts slow and almost tries to hide his passion on issues? And then as he goes he speeds up and his pitch gets higher… and about 30 seconds in he’s already knee deep. I like it. It seems he might really care. If they let him talk for another two minutes, I’m sure we would have heard him in soprano. Looks like a cop.

De Blasio – What happened to crazy Gary Johnson? This guy does make some good points but I just can’t take him seriously because he reminds me of Gary Johnson so much.

Also, fire the control room. Geez! Who makes so many rookie mistakes during an exclusive event? Tsk, tsk.

I'd always prefer a candidate that agreed with me on issues.

I found none with this crowd.

I'm glad someone was able to check it out. I can't bring myself to watch that nonsense when I can be productive doing anything else.

I'll be interested in hearing more perspectives.

Color me surprised.

When your political party comes up with an actual agenda which makes America better then we can talk about it.

Until then my personal feelings about this debate can be summed up with this...

He said China was one of our greatest threats and I had to agree with him .

it's real brave to come onto ATS and start a thread saying anything more nuanced than BUAGHAGHAHA DOn'T YOU MEAN DIM-OCRATS and i certainly wasn't expecting to see anything like this today

i'm australian so the specifics of all your candidates don't mean heaps more than entertainment to me at this point but on a site so heavily biased to one side it's really good to see a different voice

I get this. I feel the same way about Elizabeth Warren. She may have something to say but she does not come off as tough enough.

Maybe tonight she couldn't channel her Native American side enough.

Heavens why? There is a very very large Hispanic voting community out there. Addressing them and the issues they face is pretty smart.
They were in Miami. A pretty big Spanish community right there.
I doubt you're offended by the Spanish language itsself. Its one of the romance languages you know. French Italian Spanish

Yes.
So did Amy Klobuchar. She focused that as our greatest economic threat.

Besides the part where you are really the canary in the coalmine as far as politics go...
