A WOMAN scrawled an eerie message that appears to read “it’s real” after she died for 27 minutes – and claims to have seen heaven. Tina Hines collapsed as she was heading out with her husband Brian in Phoenix, Arizona, and needed to be resuscitated six times.

What do we think guys? Seems this is common with heart attacks

The usual response by the philosophical materialists will be this is not evidence of vitalism but she was simply not dead yet and in her brain she was have a free-form delusion.

oh joy another atheist in a religious thread. As a non believer and won't label myself atheist I find NDEs very interesting since people share the same experience when their heart stops.

Also why don't induced coma patients who had serious trauma and on drugs and ventilation have the same experience? You seem to have all the answers.

All I gather from this is that when you starve the brain for oxygen, it invents pleasure.

Isn't there an entire sexual thing around that, where people choke themselves to get off?

Yeah, but I don't think they experience traveling to other places or seeing dead loved ones or merging with a white or yellow light. They just get off harder.

Not everybody experiences the same thing though. It seems that only some people have this experience and it usually coincides with their current belief system. Muslims experience islamic imagery, christians experience christian imagery, some people experience non religious imagery.

What you see, if anything, is what you already believe. Or what you grow up around.

None of this is proof of anything. I’m sure most of it is made up so people can have a story that makes them more interesting or so they can say “see, i told ya”.

The facts are, that these are traumatic experiences where the brain is being damaged. Starved of oxygen. We know that this causes all sorts of hallucinations.

If a hindu wakes up and says “i spoke to brahma” would you become hindu? Would you be convinced that hinduism was the one and true religion?

If an atheist wakes up and says, “i didn’t see anything. “. Is that proof that there is no heaven?

Of course you don’t. You’re only accepting the hits that you think support your pre determined bias.

She later claimed she saw the figure of Jesus standing in front of the pearly gates with a bright light behind him.

I guess Saint Peter must have had the day off.

I think existence beyond this realm is a possibility , not sure about Pearly Gates though.

This woman's NDE, as well as many others, is a heaven type experience. More often is the tunnel with a light at the end and people you've known that have passed on. Less usual are experiences that have a hell or other unrelated theme.

I found this article to be too short and without enough information to make any conclusion from it other than it seems like a rather typical NDE. For me it doesn't do more than add statistical data to the subject.

What appalls me is that all of the ancient "mystery" teachings explain all of this in great detail, yet many people refuse to study it. Pure ignorance. Willingfull ignorance.

Comment directed at the naysayers not the OP.

I am amazed at the amount of discreditation being attempted in the thread.

Poor taste, mates. The lady was dead fellows. Of course the correct course of action is to make posts declaring her naivety.

You probably won't ever go to the moon. People don't automatically disbelieve Aldrin or Armstrong when they talk about their journey, and the place they went.

Oh... Wait...

Hah...

Well, either way, she has 27 minutes worth of discovery time, over you.
If you've never died, I have better reason to believe her firsthand anecdote, than anything your non-dead self has to tell me about it.

In the same realm of possibility acknowledgement of "we are living in a simulation".

Why could the very mechanism by which you experience the after life, eternal, NOT be the brain neuron errata discharge at the time of your death?

I stand by my statement, that you can't prove she's wrong, without killing yourself, killing your audience, or dying. If you want to maintain your stance, then please provide your own counter evidence. Good luck with that, though.

the good news is, when we die, we get all those answers. And even if you really, really think you are right, and you fade into a black nothing, if you are wrong, you will at least get to see what all these others see before you fade into that black abyss. And maybe God is all loving and will let those non believers in, or maybe not. But one thing is for sure, nobody gets out of here alive.

Then why aren't people reporting having sex? At some point you have to ask yourself why are people having this 'delusion' rather than the other ten million possibilities.

Look I've bounced back and forth between religious, agnostic, and atheist my entire life and I'm still not sure where I lie. We will never ever be able to prove beyond a shadow of a doubt anything. Our overall knowledge is still just scratching the surface.

I find stories like this, and young people having memories that they shouldn't fascinating. There are too many documented instances that these cannot just be 'stories'.

Oh joy
Another bleating atheist denying a persons experience because it contradicts their faith; rather than live and let live, said atheist moans others have a different experience and condemns their experiences because it interferes with their narrative

I ask why, don’t believe if you don’t want
You can’t deny others experiences unless you lived them

As an aside, I think the experience of heaven is dubious at best, but, who am I and what’s my opinion worth

I died on the table for a while and didn't have a clue it had happened until I was told. I just think that if it were real, everyone would have the same experience and there wouldn't be such disparate views of religion and the afterlife.
