They can get the money from the ultra rich, and I believe them.

There is not enough money in the entire US economy to do what he is claiming........

He's not looking at the US's economy, he's looking at new ways to skim off the ultra rich - are you really saying he can't get 1.6 Trillion from the ultra rich of your country? Considering your country is the richest in the world, what percentage of the $250 Trillion do you think is sitting around there?

In total, the report estimates that global households have amassed $250 trillion (an amount equal to 100x JP Morgan’s assets).

fortune.com...

I sense a huge green-eyed monster complex
Strong in this one , it is.

All quotes taken from my first link earlier:

The top 10 richest Americans, according to the Forbes 400, are as follows… Bill Gates ($89.2 B) Jeff Bezos ($85.3B) Warren Buffett ($74.5 B) Mark Zuckerberg ($64.2 B) Larry Ellison ($56.1B) Michael Bloomberg ($50.8 B) Charles Koch ($47.6B) David Koch ($47.6B) Larry Page ($47B) Sergey Brin ($45.4 B) Their combined wealth totals $607.7 Billion. . .

. . .One must understand that more than 50% of these people’s wealth, in fact I would guess probably 75–90% of it, is an asset of some sort. Now, this asset may be pretty liquid, or it might not. For example, Warren Buffett (3rd richest person in America) owns Berkshire Hathaway. BH sells houses. These are assets, not tangible capital. Therefore, that house for sale actually makes up some of Warren’s net worth. . .

. . .Second, the repercussions of this massive movement of capital would mean products like Microsoft (Bill Gates), Amazon (Jeff Bezos), and Facebook (Mark Zuckerberg) would potentially be lost, as they would need to be sold in order for the billionaires to collect on their true net worth. This would undoubtedly make many people’s lives miserable, especially those who enjoy Facebook and Amazon, and even harm businesses that use products like Microsoft office. . .

Don't fool yourself, they already do... Free education & healthcare is the least they should be providing to their submissive little peasants.

So , we have a sell-out to Hillary , a self proclaimed Pocahontas , and one of limited intellect pushing for Socialism.
They definitely are not the brightest crayons in the box .
Folks actually listen to them ?

Free college for all is “insane”?

Earned my degree back in 1982.

Between grants and scholarships, I never paid a dime for tuition or books (lived off campus in my own apartment-no roommate needed).

And yes, this was in California.

If we could do it before, why do you all find it so difficult to believe that we could do it again?

So disappointing!

I am young and in the demographic your speaking of (late 20s early 30s liberal, with higher education)

and just to give you my perspective on this.

It puzzles me that the conservatives and libertarians here view this as the government having control.

I dont view it that way, I dont think any of my liberal friends do either.

I view it this way:

-I still have a CHOICE in WHERE I go to SCHOOL
-I still have a CHOICE in my FIELD OF STUDY.
-I have a CHOICE on IF I go to school.

Same thing for doctors...

-I still have a CHOICE what doctor I go to.
-I have a CHOICE in my treatment.
-I have a CHOICE on whether I go in for treatment.

The government isnt controlling those things. If anything, the government is giving me OPPORTUNITY that I wouldnt have otherwise.

I have an OPPORTUNITY to see a doctor even though I have no money to cure my ailment.
I have an OPPORTUNITY to pursue a higher education of my choosing without going into debt and having to work 3 jobs while taking classes effecting my ability to learn.

US cannot afford University and Collage. Other countries can.

US can afford all military expenditure.
US can afford to allow the bankers to debt crush the middle class by not draining the corrupt wall street swamp.

US can afford the FED to create money out of thin air for the elite and inflation for the rest.
US can afford to pay more for medicine than other countries.

US can afford to miss manage medical oversight so that Tobacco like research become the new normal. US autism rate moving towards 2% and glyphosate is not causing cancer (sarcasm).

Hopefully in 30 years Automation will come so far that the idea of Capitalism is dead since 90% of all demand will be met by automation. What is needed then is troubleshooters. No politicians, no bankers, journalist, economics. And everyone will get free training since it is needed to be able to do the job.

I think there needs to be a global cooperative project with democratic nations to create a bullet proof form of voting, in person physical voting and maybe some kind of online voting - possibly utilizing something similar to block chain technology.

There should be very enticing incentives for hackers to "break" the system, find it's weaknesses and exploits, and collect the incentive when it is reported - it should be reported publicly so government's can't hide/sit on it and use it ot manipulate elections. I know this isn't the most perfect method, but there can be ways to make withholding found exploits near impossible, especially the more people who work on it.

So creating a global voting system which is 100% open to review creates MASSIVE incentive for the loosing parties to verify that there were no loopholes which were exploited and if any shenanigans are detected they can be published in a number of ways, blockchain, torrents, file dumps across the net, etc.

I think the reason this has not already been implemented is because it the current system is MUCH to easy to manipulate by those in power, even if some of their moves seem mysterious and questionable at the time - but over time all politicians reveal their real masters.

I wouldn't say they're insane. They're just taking a bad situation and offering an appealing solution to it. Which (of course) doesn't actually solve the problem. If individuals can't afford college (or whatever it is) because the prices are too high, passing the price on to the government isn't going to fix that problem. It's just gonna change how the bills get paid and prices are going to stay high (And likely go up and up and up until the problem resurfaces in the form of the government not being able to pay anymore).

So, for whatever reasons, the prices for education are out of control. Just like healthcare. The prices are going to stay high and go up until you figure out how to actually make them lower AT THE SOURCE. The root of the problem. The government really hates to deal with the root of any problem that involves money. They would rather just shift all the blame to the end user and not have to fight with people who stand to lose their jobs of have their income cut back because the government got involved in lowering the actual price at the source.

All of their brilliant proposals work absolutely fantastic, tip top, tippy top, fine and dandy.....

as soon as the world sheds 7 billion souls to get the population down to half a billion.

Don't worry, it's all part of the plan.

Most of the jobs in this country do not really need someone with a college degree to work at them. College teaches many of the young that they can slack off to get out of real work. Colleges want all the money to pay their own people, they want prestigious campuses and sports teams. They stick the kids in two more years of highschool which really increases the costs of college.

Yes, some jobs do require a degree, but it is a known fact that the majority of college students do not even get a job in the field they graduated in. Even WAPO says this is true, even though I have no belief in what they usually say, I believe that the majority of college is wasted money. www.washingtonpost.com... f40dc0316

Why do taxpayers pay for colleges and still the kids wind up with huge debts or their parents savings dwindles when they won't be able to get a job in their field? I blame it on the high school councelors that convince kids they need to go college, high school is brainwashing the kids.

The sickos.

Next you'll be telling me that they'll want free high school, or free middle school for all.

Insanity.

I've got an idea!

Let's pick a location, any location, let's say sized for 100,000 people. Then build a wall around this location so no one else can enter. People can leave, but not enter. We'll call our new community "Freeland". In Freeland everything is free.

Education is free
Heathcare is free
Food is free
Housing is free
Everything is free, absolutely everything

Oh sure, there are still laws, just like outside Freeland.

As part of the experiment we'll seek out volunteers to go live in Freeland. Shouldn't have any problem finding volunteers, right? All the people clamoring for socialism would sign up by the millions. We'll also initially staff all the colleges with professors, all the hospitals with doctors, all the grocery stores and home builders with qualified personnel. Even the police forces will be staffed.

But remember, once you're in we're locking the gate behind you. You are welcome to leave, but no one else is allowed to enter. You are welcome to have children and raise a family and pretty much do whatever you want.

One day, Doctor Oz decides he doesn't feel like going in to work today, and Fireman Bill and Professor Egghead decide they're going to take an early retirement (at 30). Everything is free, right? Why should they risk their lives every day going to work when everything is free? There's no "need" for them to go into work, everything is free...right? There's still plenty of other doctors, firemen and professors, let them do it. They're going to just sit back and enjoy "free-ness".

Detective Friday sees Dr. Oz, Fireman Bill and Professor Egghead kicking back and enjoying life while he's busting his ass every day. Screw this crap, he thinks! So he decides to not show up too.

After a while, there aren't so many doctors, firemen, policemen and professors anymore. In fact, there aren't enough even. Well, let's look to our free education system for some new recruits. Wait...what do you mean there aren't any??? Nope, just a whole bunch of people who wanted to learn about butterflies, or rainbows...or the true meaning of the word "is".

Then one day someone gets sick, or someone's house catches fire. There's no doctors and no firemen. Houses burn down and more people get sick without someone to treat them. People are shooting up in the streets and generally running amok. Nobody wants to work because, well, work is hard. Man, all this "free" S# is starting to suck!

Oh sure, some people volunteer to do some of the jobs, but over time they become less and less qualified and/or capable.

Pretty soon someone really really needs a doctor, but there's only one left and she's busy. But, but, they need her services more urgently, how can they cut to the front of the line? Aha! They'll catch her a delicious Bass (her favorite) and cook it up for her. Not too much later, someone else decides to put a new roof on the doctors house if they can take cuts in line and be first to get care.

(Note - In case it's not obvious, capital (of sorts) is now being introduced to the system).

Soon those with the most ability will seize the lake where the delicious Bass was caught so they can gain favor with the doctor, or the fireman, or the builder. Those without power will go without. Now, there are the "haves" and the "have nots".

The 'have-nots' will eventually leave the experiment desperately seeking greener pastures outside Freeland. The 'haves' will concentrate their power, and the cycle will continue. Over and over.

-Epilogue-

Now step back, read this again, and see how many parallels you see to what we are witnessing in society today!

And "Socialism" is going to fix this????

But...but...but...everything is free...right??????

Then they all can come out with "gender studies" degrees.
That will qualify then to work at Mc D's for $15/hr.

Norway does something like this and is not a communist country. Trump even like Norway as he stated it wasn't one of those "sh!t hole" countries.

I guess though if you keep people uneducated to not being able to access it due to cost, then you keep them in menial jobs and they are a slave to 'the man'.

It’s not just they want to make all of this stuff “free”

It’s that they also want open borders as well

So free college and health care for unlimited illegals as well

Oh, and that free college, it will no doubt continue to be a bastion of left wing indoctrination

And not to mention the reason university tuition has sky rocketed is because governments guaranteed student loans

So if they now guarantee even more money to these universities why won’t those same universities jack their prices up even higher?

None of that even matters though, because if all of this stuff is made free, healthcare, tuition, guarantees of jobs and incomes for people that don’t feel like working, open borders, eliminating cars and fossil fuels, etc,

Then the price of things will be irrelevant as the economy will collapse so fast we will all get to be poor and demand our free handouts
