If Iran did it and wanted to deny it, why not use their subs and a diver to do it underwater?

Why would they display it in broad daylight knowing drones would film them?

Many other parties have everything to gain from this while Iran has nothing to gain from it.

I would agree with you on this.

Also, Im not an expert in limpet mines, but the goal would be to sing the ship no? Then why so far above the water line

Also, when the USSR's cruiser made the run at the USN ship we had all kinds of footage. This angle, that angle etc. We get an edited clip in this case? One that looks like it was fuzzied up a bit and reverted to B&W?

The USS Bainbridge was nearby and the Iranian's simply ignored it and went in?

The charges are so high up the waterline they were not noticed until then?

The owner says no mine explosion rather an aerial attack?

The Saudi's and Bolton have been pushing for this war for some time, It would not be surprising that they would false flag this kind of stuff (Suaid's not Bolton). Iran has everything to lose and little to gain from this action.

Yet with little investigation the admin is claiming its irrefutable. What next dust of Colin Powell and have him talk about WM......... errr limpet mines to the UN? We went down this road before when we went into Iraq. Im gonna a bit more than grainy video and the administrations "word" on matters.

Trump says he'll listen to whatever dirt Norway has on his opponants. Sure, why not?
Days later, a Norwegian ship gets hit. I wonder why Norway was on Trump's mind?

It would be difficult to explain the truth, which is why so many people are lurking this thread without posting.

I don't think this instance is enough.... And sadly, I expect more to come.

I think here soon other situations arise while the conversation gets ramped up "you're not a patriot if you don't get behind this".

It's deja vu.

There are so many parties that could benefit I'm hesitant to point the finger.

Israel has to redo their recent election in September, so it should be noted those in power there may want to speed up the time line of nullifying a nuclear Iran.

Last night, while I was drifting off into slumber, I wondered if those driving the war effort are using searches to gauge public support of a conflict of Iran (through Twitter) . Maybe tensions climb until the time is right, and then the push to end game.

I imagine it will start in the UN, where China and Russia veto while the bulk of EU express they want nothing to do with it. Israel, Saudi Arabia, and the US form a coalition and do attacks on the naval bases of Iran suspected of the attack in response. Iran counters with attacks on US assets in Iraq or strait escorts outright or via proxies and then we get drawn in full scale once a "national security" argument is solidified.

While that is indeed curious... My guess is foreign actors may have kept us out of the loop if they indeed orchestrated this. Even if we were in the know (which an arguement could be made for the WWI quality black and white "evidence"), Trump would surely be kept out of the loop for plausible deniability. Also, would you trust his loose lips not sinking ships (pun intended).

Im not trying to defend anyone, merely looking at this as pragmatically as I can.

Obviously, I am being very speculative. We don't have enough facts to draw conclusions yet, and Iran may have done this. But the past has forced me to be a skeptic and to question everything.

It took us weeks to draw (light handed) conclusions on Jamal Khashoggi despite ample evidence. Yet this situation with all of its explosive ramifications spoken in absolutes in less than 24 hours.

The short, very low-res and grainy video clip released by the US, allegedly showing Iranians removing a "limpet mine" looks highly suspect given it's complete lack of detail.
What it does look like, to me personally, is the removal / rescue of the ships crew, given the large amount of people on deck, milling around and wearing bulky life vests!

The US government, and the UK one (what's left of it) blamed Iran straight away the last time and offered zero proof, and just seem to be doubling down and trying again having failed to convince people the first time around.

I would be going with manufactured rather than simply arise, to be honest.

"They" want Iran's blood and then some.

Have to wonder what they are going to do once there are no rogue nations left around?

All that will be around after Iran goes it's pretty much North Korea and Cuba.

I think the US just becomes a babysitter for the Straits of Hormuz. Accompanying every merchant ship that needs to enter or exit the Persian Gulf.

Why doesn't the Japanese Tanker owner show us the ships security 24 / 7 cameras from all sides of the boat that are on those boats for protection from terrorists or pirates who are in that part of the world?

He doesn't have any? Security cameras may be a requirement by his insurance carrier and so he runs in front of the TV cameras to cover his financial loss as it was something flying per the crew?

Why hasn't the Philippine crew been interviewed on TV. Why, cause they will never be employed ever. [A]

Hmmm.......

The video show for the mine is more difficult if it is underwater. Most of the people who are being targeted to be convinced won't understand it makes little sense.

So where is the argument that Iran did it but they didn't want to sink the ships in the waters there, just damage them as a fear tactic? I suppose just saying Iran is enough to convince most Americans.

People will get their war, give just a bit more time.
