Good News! Bernie Sanders Knows Where the Division Is Coming From

I'm sure you all know by now the a lot of the 2020 Dem hopefuls spoke at the California Democratic Convention over the weekend.

John Hickenlooper got booed out of the room for suggesting that socialism was not the way which should tell you where California is and why we don't have a national popular vote to allow them to elect all our presidents ... but I digress.

Bernie Sanders also spoke! And there is really good news! He knows the source of all the terrible division in the country, but first he laid out a series of important issues. Issues that 100% cannot be compromised on.

"We have got to make it clear that when the future of the planet is at stake, there is no middle ground. We will take on the fossil fuel industry and transform our energy system," he began with a long list of "no middle ground" declarations. b]"We have got to make it clear that when this country drifts toward oligarchy, there is no middle ground. Large profitable corporations like Amazon will pay their fair share of taxes. When it comes to health care, there is no middle ground. Health care is a human right, not a privilege. And we will guarantee health care to all of our people through a Medicare-for-all single-payer system."

"When it comes to abortion, there is no middle ground. A woman has the right to control her own life, not the government," Sanders continued. "When it comes to prescription drugs, no middle ground. We’re going to take on the pharmaceutical industry, cut prescription drug prices in half. And when it comes to mass shootings and the fact that 40,000 people were killed last year with guns, no middle ground, we will take on the NRA. And when it comes to criminal justice reform and immigration reform, no middle ground. We will take on the prison-industrial complex. We will take on racism at the border. And when it comes to foreign policy, no middle ground. We will finally put an end to a bloated military budget and end endless wars."

So look at those issues that are sharply divisive, but there is no middle ground! It's their way or the highway, forward, progress, and all that stuff.

I'm sure that won't cause any division at all ...

Then right after that, Bernie went on:

"Brothers and sisters, Trump wants to divide us up. We will stand together. Black and white and Latino, Native American, Asian American. We will stand together and create the nation that we know we will become," he said.

But the reason we're divided right now is Trump's fault? After you lay out all those things you refuse to compromise on because there is no middle ground, and let's be plain, it's not like the no middle ground part only starts after Bernie hits office, it's ongoing and has been for a while, you can't then turn around and blame all the division on your political opponents.

If they ain't buying what you're selling, you can't expect them to just lay down and die for you because you're allowing no middle ground.

Thank God he is not for real. Although, if he was he would have died years ago and we would not have to tolerate his sycophants and the youf would be just a little bit wiser.

Anybody with a brain that even marginally functions can see all the hate and division comes from the left.
It really cracked me up when the Berkeley students trashed their own campus lashing out at hate.
Hundreds of students throwing rocks, smashing windows, lighting fires, all with wild eyed rabid ferocity.
And all over the place people holding signs proclaiming the "hate free zone".
I guess they mean the hate is included for free?

The democratic party is nothing more than authoritarianism now. This news may strike them like Michael Douglas in 'Falling Down', but yes, the democratic party are the bad guys now. It's a shame because it is not like they have all bad ideas. But the main idea that has sunk them to the depths of depravity is that they continually fail to grasp that how you do something is even more important than the why. Every worst moment in human history was born out of selective empathy.

EDIT:

Keep in mind also that these are the very same people that defended socialism by saying what happened in the case of Venezuela's catastrophic collapse wasn't because of socialism, but because of authoritarianism. And then now compare that with their approach to power. I don't care what your beliefs are. Hell, I might even agree with you on some things. But if your application is authoritarianism then you represent the greatest evil known to humankind -- and that, and only that, is the one thing that we shall never compromise on.

One can hope that this is was just pandering to Californians because they've had a one party state out there for far too long and forgotten what it means to compromise, but still ... Scary stuff.

I always laugh when I see Bernie and hear him talk. It's like he has no clue, the words just fall out of his yap with no thought on what is backing them up. His plans have costs in the tens to hundreds of trillions, that's just one problem. His plans will destroy millions of jobs. What will come out of that if this moron ever got it? Well those millions of people with lost jobs would be very pissed off and I expect ole Bernie would be going bye-bye pretty fast.

Neither the MIC, nor the FED nor any other corporate entity will need to get their hands dirty. Good ole Bernie's supporters once they've become destitute will do it for them I think.

It's funny that you compare the new left to the old right because that is exactly what they have become. I stood against Bush and the GOP for years because they thought it was the duty of government to cultivate morality. That is what religion is for and why we have a separation of church and state. Religion is good a cultivating morality, but sucks eggs when it comes to keeping a lid on it and it can easily get out of hand if these churches gain too much authority or influence over a state -- that is why government is kept separate from it when the empathy inevitably becomes selective and the state has to say "okay, you can believe what you want to believe but you have no authority over someone who wants to believe something different than you."

This is a lesson we as people learned long ago, but have somehow forgotten because now we seem to want to put that power in the hand of the state. The state, like the church, sucks eggs at regulating its own power. When the state becomes the church and tasks itself with the duty of cultivating morality then there is no oversight. No entity above it to say, "okay, you can have your views and they can have theirs."

Instead, as the empathy becomes selective, it leads to authoritarianism which inevitably leads to a mass culling of any contrarian viewpoint. Bernie Sanders isn't even masking his intentions. Most people are just too ignorant of history to pay it any mind. He routinely calls for a cultural revolution and names anyone who has the power to oppose him or is simply of a moderate temperament as an enemy of the state. Have you any idea how many people were mass murdered in Mao Zedong's cultural revolution for the crime of simply being a moderate?

Bernie Sanders is not a good man. And that fact that so many seem to be bamboozled into thinking he is the picture of morality just goes to show that we are living in deeply troubled times.

I grew up being taught that the McCarthy era was horribly wrong and an evil part of US history. Now I've figured out that McCarthy was right.

The beauty of democracy in any form is that everyone should have a representative. Just dont break laws, but I guess a lot of his followers dont follow that.

Secondly tho. He hits some points on the head for social issues, but always goes back to near communist rhetoric. Which just drops him off a cliff to the next branch he has to climb back up from to be relevant again. Always living on the edge.
