At the moment, anything and everything is possible in British Politics.

The latest You Gov Opinion Poll, gives The Liberal Democrats a 2 point lead, for Westminster Voting Intentions. However of course, things can and will change.

yougov.co.uk...

On this Opinion Poll this would give the following numbers of seats at Westminster.

Labour 195
Brexit Party 159
Liberal Democrats 141
Conservatives 75 ( yes you read that correctly )
SNP 57
Plaid Cymru 4
Green 1
Northern Ireland Parties 18

ibb.co...

However Nigel Farage has responded by claiming this is a " Fake Poll "

You Gov have released a poll showing the Lib Dems top in the country, with @brexitparty_uk second. They did not have the BP option on the list and we were hidden in ‘others’. Looks like an establishment attempt to suppress the truth

The Liberal Democrats only have 141. I would expect that Brexit and Labour would be comprised of conservatives. That would lower conservative numbers in a pole. I do not know what SNP is. Would that be liberal oriented?

SNP is Scottish National Party.

I have just added an edit with Nigel Farage's comments regarding The You Gov Poll.

Labour regard themselves as left-wing and socialist.
I think this poll is a temporary effect of the Brexit crisis;
One the one hand, those who want to Remain find the Liberal Democrats the only party definitely on that side, so they are committing themselves in polls.
On the other hand, those who want to Leave are not finding either of the two main parties definitely for either side of the argument, so they are not committing themselves to anybody.
if this government actually succeeded in delivering Brexit, they would win back Leave opinion "at a stroke" (which is how Ted Heath promised to reduce prices in 1970).
Once the whole thng was a fait accompli, though, normal left v right politics would probably return.

Sounds like they are twisting the results of poles to fit the desire of a party there in the UK just like they do here in America.

Good grief, I sincerely hope not.
The man is a complete buffoon.

Opinion polls have been notoriously wrong recently.

Speculation about the makeup of any future parliament is guesswork....there's plenty more water to flow under the bridge before the next General Election.

The only certainty is that the vast majority of MP's will come from the same privileged background, will have little or no real life experience and will represent the same self-serving system that is no longer fit for purpose.

I just took a phone poll yesterday, I actually did quite a bit of it to see which way it would lead try to lead me to say things. It was a Democrat oriented poll, I could tell that after about two minutes, it started to try to convince me that Democratic issues were correct, steering me to say their ways were right. It was nothing other than a way to campaign, to turn Republicans into democrats. It was a scam not a real poll, I have taken those around election time before. Gee, the Democrats are sure starting early with campaigning this time.

Considering most mainstream news sites have been doing magical maths to make it look like Brexit lost this doesn't surprise me. This will happen even if The Brexit Party managed to win an election, there would be calls for a new election or there would be a series of complaints or investigations into claims of this and that to try and change the results. I've been saying it for a while but since calling for a second referendum or a peoples vote or the new one a confirmation vote has been given so much attention and legitimacy by the news and political figures we're going to see more demands for second votes or completely redoing elections.

Mark my words.

Labor is almost always liberal ..

Unions, exc..

And that has been the case since the very beginning when the French aristocracy sat on the right(conservative s) and the peasants sat on the left (liberals)in france’s version of parliament.

Those who wanted to uphold the monarchy were the conservatives..

Those who wanted something new were the liberals.

Labor has always been left wing in America too..

Aka unions..

by the dictionary definition..

Rightwing = the establishment/old guard/the rich and powerful..

Left wing = peasants/labor/those upset with those in power.

I still don’t understand British governance...
The populace votes on and passes a referendum to leave the EU...
Ok
Years later, politicians still haven’t done a thing...

I’d be livid, but what do I know, I’m just a Texan...

Liberals are great with “democracy” so long as the people vote the “right” way....
Again, I’d be up in arms...probably literally since this is Texas....although because of this right, something like this would never happen here...

I'm not versed on your politics, but I would think the Brexit Party and Conservative Party were relatively the same, no?

Anyways, I'm surprised to see Lib Dems that high, they're losing big in civilized countries all over the world.

Neither do we!

A national disgrace.

Many of us are....

Pretty much the same as conservatives and many so-called libertarians as far as I can see.
Any casual perusal of the multitude of left/right threads here on ATS will testify to that.

Again, I’d be up in arms...probably literally since this is Texas....although because of this right, something like this would never happen here...

I wouldn't be too sure of that my friend.....let's hope you never have to find out for real.

Further more evidence can be seen when politicians get enough footing to create gridlock and call it winning. All of them see rendering our governing structures useless while spending the same amount of resources for them as winning. Even sadder, people celebrate it.

It is called demagoguery and has been the bane of democracy since its invention..

All the ancient historians and philosophers, and I do mean all were sure democracy was a horrible mistake..

Basically the only way any democracy in history has fallen was after being hyped up to do something stupid.. at least that comes to mind..
