Don't really know if I would have waisted a fiver on Farage like this if am honest, plenty of dog crap on the pavements.

Also common assault, I mean come on, who hasn't had a drink in their face at some point, its hardly assault, its not very nice, its a crappy thing to do to another person, but its hardly think kind of thing you deserve an assault charge for and the huge impact that has on your life. This cost poor Nigel a dry-cleaning bill, he's not injured, the only thing hurt was his pride. It should be a slap on the wrist, a police caution, don't be a moron and do something like that again, not an assault charge.

It should be treated like any other idiot through a drink over another idiot on a Friday night.

Didn't the bloke who hit Corbyn with an egg get a month in prison?

Yup also stupid.

Although I would add that in that case the guy did make contact with Corbyn, he gave him quite a smack to the head as the egg smashed all over his face.

But like that guy who aggressively milk-shaked Tommy Robinson.

But not quite exactly like the guy Tommy punched in the face....

How do you know he's a "leftist" ?

Because he's American and he obviously knows far more about what is going on over here than any of us who actually live here do.

Our politics has moved Beyond left and Right since the Brexit vote.

I think they'd be terribly confused if we tried to explain the politics of Brexit to them.
To be fair, I understand how people could be confused about who is on what side as the lines criss-cross daily.

As for this; I could imagine the outcry from the Remainers if a Brexit supporter had done something similar to a leading Remain spokesperson.
If it had been me I'd have just given the knobhead a good kicking....guess that's one of the many reasons I'm not in the public eye.

I think that YouTube politician has been milk-shaked 4 times. Violence and intimidation will escalate even further.

The fact that this is deemed as 'news'...
Well that seems to be the problem these days.

That's why it should be right up Farage's street.

Considering he would most lightly be up for bringing back the stocks.

The thrower is obviously either mad or a Tory.

Most socialists who make policy are champagne swigging types. They can afford to foist their silliness on others.
Anyway. The odd milkshake, or egg is part of political life. Just need to ensure this type of things is not habitual, as that then gets a bit tedious.

It's funny. The left think that violence is the worst thing you can do. They call words violence, however, they seem to be in a state of cognitive dissonance now.
The leftkeep throwing things at people and hitting people too. They keep shutting people down and 'no-platforming' people.
The left has morphed into the monster it claims to hate. Hate does that, stop being so hateful leftist nutbags.
They hit Tommy Robinson (cos eez a Nazi innit) and Karl Benjamin too (cos eez da rapist innit).

Why do you keep saying 'the left'? Have you been on here too long? Farage wants to leave on WTO terms, a little of people think that would be the worst way to leave. Farage rolled up a hell of a lot of hate towards (legal) migrants, a lot of people think he played it with false information - which he did, notice how Turkey still aren't in the EU?

Farage called Tommy Robinson (that's not his real name, it's his nom de plume for when he wants to appeal to the gormless cretins who follow him so he comes across as having more street cred) a thug.

Seems Farage was right about one thing then.

While this is a dick move and should be punished, I think that calling this violence is a bit of a stretch.

This is more like property damage as that suit will have to be dry cleaned.

I think the problem is that this sort of thing generally escalates..he throws a milkshake, you get pissed and throw a punch, then someone throws an egg, next it's rocks and bricks.

He got an egg thrown at him last time he stood for anything, some people though, you can understand why.

When will we ever see a ban on milkshakes?

Yeah, I know the old argument, "Then only the criminals will be able to enjoy a creamy frothy beverage".

This has gone too far though.

Fun dairy drinks should have a 3 day waiting period.

IS that like people like Yaxley-Lennon (Tommy Robinsons real name, too posh for his supporters) trying to harass politicians who don't share his point of view, or is that different?

Wow, a violent leftist, imagine that.

You know in the UK our politics isn't really split with this stupid dogma of left vs right.

There are loads of people on the left who love Brexit and loads on the right who think it's the worst thing to ever happen. I think your post perfectly epitomises the folly that comes when you try to put everyone you don't like into that group over there.....

Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if this guy just isn't all that political and figured it would be laugh.

You however sir, quite clearly don't get our politics and just want to hate on the lefties because you get lots of "oooohhhh....shiny stars"...and "yayyyyyyy.....my opinion is being validated by other right-wingers...."

Quoted for hilarity, considering your 123,456,789,012 anti-Trump posts history.

He uses the name Tommy Robinson for entirely different reasons.

Personally I think Stephen Yaxley-Lennon is a complete arsehole but are you really trying to stereotype all his supporters as working class oiks who would judge him on his name alone?

This thread isn't about Yaxley-Lennon its about Farage, aligning the two is like saying Lenin and someone like Ed Miliband are two political peas in a pod.

..... trying to harass politicians who don't share his point of view, or is that different?

But please Miss, Johnny did it first.

At times it really is like being back in primary school playground again.

It’s assault by any definition.

I find it ironic your stance has been that the UK has a culture of being quick to outrage...

And you characterize a drink being unloaded on someone as violence and assault.

Again, I'd be pissed if someone did it to me, but I wouldn't say they were violent, just an asshole.

But aren't the Brits supposed to be above all this? Isn't that something one of us deplorable American's would do, and would be admonished for their low-level reaction?

Defending and diminishing this sure sounds like a certain form of hypocrisy to me. But then,. what do I know, I am just an uninformed American.

No region of humanity is above actions like this. It happens in all societies and I think we're all aware of that.

I didn't see where I defended it, in fact I believe I said something of the sorts "he should be punished". Violence is when you harm somebody, I don't think egos count.

By common definition, assault is a violent action against another person. You saying it was not violence is disingenuous at best, and biased dogma at worst.

Merriam Webster:

Definition of Assault

Definition of assault (Entry 1 of 2)
1a : a violent physical or verbal attack
b : a military attack usually involving direct combat with enemy forces
an assault on the enemy's air base
c : a concerted effort (as to reach a goal or defeat an adversary)
an assault on drug trafficking
