I wonder if Cenk and the rest of her puppeteers are questioning their decision to select her out of the thousand of other actors at the casting call.

The level of stupidity coming from this woman is mind blowing.... Do you think its an act???

I honestly wonder if she's secretly a Republican plant. Nobody can really be as soul-crushingly stupid as she is, can they?

The fact that Bernie Sanders and his economically clueless plans for the future received so much support and cheering mostly from AOC's demographic in 2016 leads me to believe she is not a Republican plant. I earnestly believe there is a vapor locked segment of the millenails with a total absence of economic understanding and real world based problem solving skills. I blame their parents and the education system for always giving them their way, telling them they were "the best," and never teaching them that life sucks sometimes and you just gotta chew the SNIP sandwich and swallow it before moving on to greener pastures.

Perhaps her next video will be about her opening a mailbox with mail in it and being amazed, because where she grew up there were no mailboxes... or mail.

Then wondering if it's environmentally friendly.

Just going with her latest series which should be entitled "I had no idea how a house works because the family maid did all this stuff!"

Yep, you read right.

I guess it's my turn to post an AOC thread. She actually proposed this one video in a discussion of some sort with Bernie Sanders. The video is in the link.

So let's keep aside the problems with any government-run enterprise.

Why on earth would you have the USPS run it? The USPS is possibly the worst government-run enterprise outside the DMV to run anything. Imagine trying to bank with people who have limited hours, bad customer service, and lose your packages regularly. Want to trust them with your money?

Then we can discuss the regular problems with government-run enterprises.

"We should have a not-for-profit public option for basic banking services, and we should be piloting these projects through the U.S. Postal Service," Ocasio-Cortez said, apparently with no irony.

So I'm not sure what postal service AOC has dealt with, but it would have to get a whole lot better before I'd let it start banking.
they are so stupid they think profit is evil. Profit is the motivation to be efficient. The post office is half dead. Great pick to run a bank

Well, if you think about it the term "the check's in the mail" would take on a whole new meaning...

Biden just offered free healthcare for life to all illegal aliens...so this is pretty much in line with Democrat brilliance.

I believe she is spot on. I also think social security should be the primary mortgage provider for first time buyers instead of "loaning" the money to the government. No better security for a loan than a social security payment. I can also see them allowing mortgages to transfer to new buyers to let defaulters off the hook. There are lots of things that can should be done for the benefit of the people, where any profits are transferred back to the people.

Socialism for our needs.

Capitalism for our wants.

That's about the level of intelligence I'd expect from someone who doesn't know what a garbage disposal is and is amazed that food grows in the dirt... Next level stupid, this one.

U.S. Postal Service marks 11 straight years of financial loss
Nation Nov 14, 2017 12:25 PM EDT
WASHINGTON — The beleaguered U.S. Postal Service reported a financial loss Tuesday for the 11th straight year, citing declining mail volume and costs of its pension and health care obligations even as it predicted another strong holiday season of package deliveries. It pleaded for more freedom to raise stamp prices to help keep pace with consumer demand for ever-quicker deliveries from online shopping.

Without help, “our financial results will continue to deteriorate and likely at an accelerated rate,” said Postmaster General Megan J. Brennan. “We cannot generate enough revenue or cut enough costs to pay all of our bills.”

The Postal Service reported a loss of $2.7 billion for the fiscal year that ended Sept. 30. That was better than a $5.6 billion loss in the prior year but was mainly due to fluctuations in interest rates that reduced workers’ compensation expenses.

The 2017 loss came after a double-digit increase in package delivery was unable to offset drop-offs in letter mail, which makes up more than 70 percent of total postal revenue. Mail volume fell by roughly 5 billion pieces, or 3.6 percent, as people in the digital age rely more on email for online bill payments.

Revenue came to $69.6 billion, down from $71.5 billion last year.

No thanks. I choose to keep my money in organizations that believe in making money, not losing it. It cost money to take care of money. No one will do it for free.

“Man you guys get so triggered by her”

Two scoops anyone? Screaming at the sky? Giant blimp or maybe some mass rioting?

Who is it that gets ‘so triggered’??????

He IS your president

Go learn about what the postal accountability act of 2006 did.

It requires the self-supporting U.S. Postal Service, which receives not one dime in taxpayer subsidies, to fully fund its retirees’ health benefits for 75 years into the future. It also requires that money be set aside over a 10-year period, at a rate of more than $5 billion per year.

AOC is addressing the 'unbanked' issue.

For one, this is literally quote mining. What she said and was displayed in the video is in mid sentence. What was she following with that statement which she clearly says "or in many other of ways".

And the article linked gives prime examples of how banks aren't the solution, but neither is government. So what is the actual problem and solution to what AOC is addressing? Is she wrong for even addressing the issue at all?

You want to address the unbanked issue? Instead of giving government more power, try looking into the reasons why so many small and community banks went out of business -- Dodd/Frank. You know, government.

This is just government fixing a problem it created.

So what money is social security lending to you? There is none in their lock box.

What was the initial problem then? Not government.

When I was starting out in banking my money, I went to non-profit credit unions. It was a great way to start a banking account. I have now become more capitalistic and a better saver and have joined the private baking system. We don't need a government banking system. I like keeping my money separate from the government. They get enough via taxes and then refund me with me no interest as it is now.

Besides, didn't the government dip into social security already? Whose to say a government bank won't let the government feel they could dip into my funds whenever they were desperate?
