anywhere there is an interaction, there is a possible dialogue to be explored, which is the path to realizing new metaphors and defining existent objects with truth.

but it seems more and more that, instead of engaging in dialogue not merely in expression but in communion- we allow the interactions to become stagnant: by 1) dwelling purely within the role defined for them by environment; and 2) relying on themselves to create conflict to stay engaged in interaction rather than cooperating to create meaning. we do this not only with each other, but with ourselves.

this is why peoples lives fall apart, in a system perfectly designed to test exactly that: provided only with the barest of hints and a whole lot of hearsay, one must divine the truth of pretty much everything for themselves. in the midst of that struggle, one must try and stem a barrage of drama created via stagnation as described above, among which is the profit driven, corrupt systems which loom over us all. the only escape of which is in the rush of inspiation in any of its forms, the urge to create channeled by conscious attention and multipled by skill and effort

but its like the stagnation has produced a blanket of ignorance which looms over consciousness itself, preventing the rush of inspiration which is the brains natural ability to connect dots with reality on the fly ala jimmy neutrons infamous brain blast; much like carnivorous plants secrete sticky substances which prevent the escape of their victims from the trap.

the only way to escape is with the full weight of the public eye, for only under its scrutiny will corruption ever truly wither... just like if knowledge of the flytraps became widespread knowledge of the public.

I'm not sure if "meaning" has the weight it once had. We're in the tail end of this civilization. Mediocrity is all that's left.

It's certainly easy to get neutralized by semantics. After a while you would think that people would start to understand that their words are poor approximations of reality, and that the conflicts they get into over these words are pointless and nullifying.

I suppose it would be nice if one day everybody woke up enlightened. Unfortunately, I don't think most people are capable of it. Maybe that's a good thing. Sometimes you want to see the mountaintop all by yourself.

I believe in our hyper-desensitized society there is less and less perceived meaning in life. We are continuously bombarded with technology & media created to shorten our attention spans & alter our natural thinking processes. We are given entertainment programming which desensitizes & manipulates are knowledge/feelings/emotions. Think about how many times you've been emotionally moved by a story or movie. Now think about how many times you've been emotionally moved by a real life event. What kind of effect would the real life events have if we didn't watch/listen to media/programming? How much stronger would our feelings or thoughts be? The media programming desensitizes our real life emotions & experiences. Imo, we'd all act completely different if we all stopped consuming media programming. Eventually, if we continue on this path, we'll probably devolve back into communal tribes without electricity, technology, plumbing, etc.. I'd be surprised if future humans will be able to start a fire or have cement/concrete buildings/foundations. One can see the ignorance, incompetence or otherwise lack of critical thinking skills caused by this phenomenon. Most people no longer think for themselves & are programmed what to think through media programming.

Humans have a dominant tendency to perceive life as a physical life having spiritual experiences along the way. Life is actually a spiritual life having physical experiences along the way.

Sure, it is easy to blame the physical aspects that cause one to clamp so dearly onto physical manifestations, but those aspects are more than likely just a consequence of hindered spirituality. The cause of these dilemmas likely stems from either a full removal or reduced value of perceived spirituality, or valuing the physical over the spiritual.

The Manipulation of Information: Awake!—2000

“By clever and persevering use of propaganda even heaven can be represented as hell to the people, and conversely the most wretched life as paradise.”—ADOLF HITLER, MEIN KAMPF.

AS MEANS of communicating have expanded—from printing to the telephone, radio, television, and the Internet—the flow of persuasive messages has dramatically accelerated. This communications revolution has led to information overload, as people are inundated by countless messages from every quarter. Many respond to this pressure by absorbing messages more quickly and accepting them without questioning or analyzing them.

The cunning propagandist loves such shortcuts—especially those that short-circuit rational thought. Propaganda encourages this by agitating the emotions, by exploiting insecurities, by capitalizing on the ambiguity of language, and by bending rules of logic. As history bears out, such tactics can prove all too effective.
...
Playing on the Emotions

Even though feelings might be irrelevant when it comes to factual claims or the logic of an argument, they play a crucial role in persuasion. Emotional appeals are fabricated by practiced publicists, who play on feelings as skillfully as a virtuoso plays the piano.
...
Some propagandists play on pride. ... A reverse appeal to pride plays on our fear of seeming stupid.

Another reverse appeal to pride plays on our fear of seeming closed-minded, related to something mentioned on the next page of that article:

Do Not Be a Victim of Propaganda!

“A fool will believe anything.”—PROVERBS 14:15, TODAY’S ENGLISH VERSION.
...
... Once you are familiar with some of their tricks, you are in a better position to evaluate any message or information that comes your way. Here are some ways to do this.

Be selective: A completely open mind could be likened to a pipe that lets just anything flow through it—even sewage. No one wants a mind contaminated with poison. Solomon, a king and educator in ancient times, warned: “Anyone inexperienced puts faith in every word, but the shrewd one considers his steps.” (Proverbs 14:15) So we need to be selective. We need to scrutinize whatever is presented to us, deciding what to accept and what to reject.

However, we do not want to be so narrow that we refuse to consider facts that can improve our thinking. How can we find the right balance? By adopting a standard with which to measure new information. ...

Use discernment: ...

Put information to the test: ... Some people today are like sponges; they soak up whatever they come across. It is all too easy to absorb whatever is around us.

But it is far better for each individual personally to choose what he will feed his mind. It is said that we are what we eat, and this can apply to food for both the body and the mind. ...

There's a great irony in an OP about the lack of meaningful dialogue where the OP disappears after the initial powerful protest, right?

I sure hope Seymour didn't take too much blood from the OP, that all is well, and that the thread doesn't lose meaningful dialogue!

Hmmmmmm...
A monologue about dialogue.

That's funny!

Good LW: please; let's not overly concern ourselves, with the complaints of the others.
We don't know what is their motivating factors, plans, nor possible agendas.
We must find our own peace.
