Wow
Sounds like the old wise Southern saying
Expect the worst , and hope for the best.

People seem unaware of two Tunguska like events that occurred in the 30's in South America. The first was in the Brazil Peru border on August 13 1930 A large are was set on fire. Another considered by some to be larger than Tunguska occurred in Guyana on December 11, 1935. This devastated an area of jungle 20 miles across. This was nearly uninhabited so there were few contemporary reports. An expedition called the Terry-Holden expedition from the American Museum of Natural History observed the area in 1937. Regrowth made it difficult to determine the size of the devastation.

It is probable that these events are more common that is generally believed.

Is it just me who sees something different that might have caused that "meteor shower", in this woodcut print?

That looks like a schizophrenic's painting of a glowing woman standing under one of those rainfall showerheads.

EDIT - Actually, it also appears that she is in the process of falling over sideways. Very creative!

Is this the same NASA guy who said in 2010 that a large asteroid was going to hit the Earth on 1st Feb 2019? If it is he's just retracted his statement and said it will hit 2029.
