the referendum is a gauge of public opinion and not a legally binding vote such as the general election is it not ?
Ideally the government could hold a referendum on any political subject that affects the Uk on a daily basis , if they had the resources to pull it off !
we could have a referendum every week if we wanted to!

yes exactly , 3 years a lot of things can shift politically ! if the people wanted a referendum after joining the EEC in 78 then a referendum the people should have had !
Lets have a referendum to see if we should have a second referendum on leaving or staying in The EU.

Sounds about as logical as what you are asking for.

The people have already voted. They demanded that we leave the EU. Why even bother having another one if you just ignore one that you did not like the result of?
Democracy, indeed. Can we have some, please?

There slogan " Stop Brexit " advocates what the result of a " peoples vote " would be, even before a " peoples vote " would have even been called or the result know if a vote did happen.
So again i ask the question, how do the Liberal Democrats intend to " Stop Brexit " ? Do they use a Crystal Ball ?
Confused from Stratford-upon-Avon.
They want to stop brexit.
The are campaigning for a second vote as probably the only legitimately if doing so.
Not sure how that is confusing.

By your logic there can be a vote to "Stop 'Stop Brexit' "
And another vote to "Stop "Stop 'Stop Brexit" " "...

Something that many posters on here seem not to understand.
A referendum is just a big opinion poll.

Hold on, we should obviously have a referendum on having a referendum to see if we should have a second referendum on leaving or staying in The EU. Obviously, the referendum would only be binding if we ended up voting to have a second referendum.

Oxford dictionary definition
referendum: A general vote by the electorate on a single political question
which has been referred to them for a direct decision.
So a bit more than an opinion poll wouldn't you say?
