These people live it toysforadults.

You canny teach your granny how to suck eggs after all, just a thought.

If you are going to give them lessons, then it better be a good one, coz it's their darn doorstep.

Just mind perspective is the ticket and their history comes from more than just books, both sides.

Andy with the status quo we have peace. Any changes will risk ending that, especially creating a 'united' Ireland. This murder was committed by people seeking that. When someone expresses a desire for a 'united' Ireland they are in effect expressing a desire for a civil war/genocide/forced relocation of people because that's what it would entail.

It's ok, they have issued a full apology, said it was a mistake and that they were really meaning to get the nasty Policemen and not the poor lady journalist who was simply hit by mistake. If you read the statement in full, it makes you think that no further attacks will be undertaken until they have put the yellow jackets on and carried out a full H & S report (in triplicate).

You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about, the more you post on this the more your ignorance is revealed for all to see.

This has absolutely nothing to do with The Right to Bear Arms; its about terrorism, extortion, racketeering, centuries held sectarianism, drug dealing etc.

Your insistence on bringing The Second Amendment into anything and everything is really tedious and says far more about you and your mindset than it does anything else.

I just wanna say for a second that please don't take Shooter has representing all of us or even a majority. I am a STRONG advocate of the Second Amendment right to bear arms here in America. I Travel to the UK including Northern Ireland, as well as the republic of Ireland and a very continuous basis for family and friends, and I do NOT believe given Irish History and culture that a Second Amendment would work there, NOR do I think that's the solution to the Irish Issues currently. I believe trying to increase the amount of guns in that country would really cause a lot more problems for that area. The Troubles was a very recent thing( as you know) and the culture there is MUCH different then our American one.

I know you know most of that already, I just wanted to speak as a Conservative American whos a BIG Second Amendment Supporter(FOR AMERICA) but I understand every country and culture is different and what works in one country doesn't always work in every other Country in the world.

I was a way to get the kids from school, only got the gist of it before i left.

Their are obviously moronic Murderers and should be totally ashamed of there actions, apologies or otherwise.

Apparently, the same mob that sent spurious devices to the likes of Glasgow University, which is in Scotland, and about as much of a legitimate target as France. LoL

Anyhoo, at least the culprits are now outright known, wonder if anyone will step forward and take the blame?

I would not get my hopes up there.

It seems you believe the romanticised notion of a United Ireland.

The FACT is that the vast majority of people in Northern Ireland have absolutely no desire to return to The Troubles.
They are sick to literal death of the whole thing.
Sick of the killing, the hatred and the bigotry.
They want to move on and simply get on with living their lives how they see fit in much the same way as the rest of us do.

Before the Brexit debacle support for Northern Ireland remaining in the UK was growing.
And that growth was particularly noticeable in traditional Nationalist communities where people were beginning to see the benefits of The Peace Agreement.

And by and large they were free from the intimidating, bullying and racketeering of the terrorists.
Because in reality that's all they were - shysters and gangsters, out to make profit and control people.
Their motivations became money and power.

Not everything in Ulster is perfect.....but it's getting better by the day and people are trying their best to move on free from the bigotry and sectarianism.

Sure it'll take time and there'll be setbacks but we must remain positive and support the peace wherever and whenever possible.

Yes, Ireland's history is drenched in blood, oppression and sectarianism but we live in a real world and a changing world and living in the past achieves nothing.

You cling to some romanticised notion of Irishness.
Its nonsense.
Your family left Ireland donkey's years ago.
The Irish themselves view it as bizarre yet play up to it as it brings in the tourists and is always a source of free drinks on their travels.

For the record; all my Grandparents came from Ireland, two from County Kerry and the other two just south of Dublin.
I was raised Catholic and have always taken an interest in Irish history and politics.
I'm not Irish-English.....I'm English.

The question needs asked, if all weapons were supposedly decommissioned and put beyond use under international supervision how is it that the 'New IRA' are able to access weapons caches which belonged to the 'PIRA'? (lets not stoop to appeasement, same movement different name)
We were lied to by Blair about the shady backroom deals during the GFA negotiations and lied to about the weapons decommissioning. Meanwhile a whole generation has grown up being fed the lies and rewritten history of the troubles.
The British government needs to stop appeasing terrorists and start looking after their victims instead.

I know not all Americans are like shooter.
But he is typical of a large and vocal group of US members here on ATS who seem obsessed with The Second Amendment and try their best to bring it into every single UK or even European thread.
The same group seem convinced we have absolutely no freedom over here and that they know best on absolutely everything.

I suspect that many may be flat earthers as well.

Happy St. George's Day!

Yes I understand that. A good comeback for you that My Wife(UK Citizen) always says "I can have an open alcohol container on a beach in the UK, you can't have an Open alcohol container ANYWHERE in New Jersey, where is the land of the free again?
" and there are many more examples.

We Americans love our freedoms, but we tend to forget the ones we gave up.

P.S Sorry for the Off topic remarks everyone.

I'm not too sure about the access to decommissioned weapons cache's. I'm sure the remaining terrorists will still have contacts that will be able to supply them with some guns, ammunition etc.
Until a weapon used in a new terrorist attack is found we'll not be able to prove any link.

I'm sure the GFA was a bitter pill for many to swallow and I understand its easier for me to acknowledge its necessity rather than those directly affected.
But at what point do the recriminations stop?.....for a peace to succeed a line in the sand had to be drawn - just a shame that doesn't apply to British soldiers!

And we can not go soft on any new breed of terrorist, they MUST be punished in strict adherence to the law and they must be eradicated as soon as possible.

I know this 'new breed' of terrorist will be disaffected youngsters attracted to the image of the gangster and will be exploited and manipulated by the bigoted old heads who can't let go of the power they once wielded and are obsessed with re-igniting the hatred.
They can not be allowed to succeed.

Just a small point of contention, but you cannot have an open alcohol container on a beach in Scotland which is in the UK.

This ban was enforced due to the increase in drink-related violent crime.

Load of crap to be honest, as it hardly resolves the violent crime issue, and only really serves to generate revenue by way of on the spot fine and the like.

Sorry for the off topic but in England you can drink a can of beer while driving and it is not illegal. I've done it while a cop passed me, obviously he pulled me over and breath tested me with reasonable suspicion but In was on my way 10 minutes later 😂
On topic, N.Ireland, I just feel for all the regular people there who just want peace, especially the young adults who have only known a form of peace since GFA. It seems people republican and unionists alike don't want a return. To violence, just a minority of criminal scum.

There was a report a couple of months ago about the 'New IRA' accessing the weapons caches.
And you're right about the recriminations needing to stop but that would mean accepting the status quo and these groups don't want that. The agenda is the constant rewriting of history, demand for continual inquiries until they get the result they want, threatening violence when they don't get what they want and an effort to make the country a failed state.
The majority in Northern Ireland are outraged about 'soldier f', there's para flags flying everywhere. A soldier who left his barracks in the mornings with the intention of doing good and defending civilians, who possibly made a mistake, is being hounded in his old age with a threat of a long prison sentence. At the same time the terrorists who left their houses in the morning with the intention of murdering innocents have been given 'comfort letters' making them immune from prosecution. All should be prosecutable or none should be.
And the inquiries, the latest one is is in investigating the deaths of people running around wasteland out the back of an army barracks during a riot orchestrated by terrorists. It is the third inquiry into it, inquiries will be demanded till it is found the state was to blame. Even channel 4 are pushing for this ffs. But inquiries into deaths of the victims of terrorists are denied because the republican movement class them as acceptable collateral, even 6 month old babies shot in the head by the IRA.
The law abiding majority have been asked to accept a lot but it really is going too far.

Notice how the media is quick to call this terrorism because the people involved are white.

What???

The people involved are Northern and Southern Irish.

What the hell does colour have to do with this at all?

They are Terrorists because they were chucking petrol bombs and firing off live ammunition at Police and security forces, in the process managing to kill an innocent 29-year-old woman.
