I'd ask what it is with Americans but we all know the cold-war propaganda had a deep and lasting effect.

That's the beauty of the forum, although with that said the reply/quote system could use some work

"Youre right." Exactly. Not much of your post requires any more attention apart form the "socialist" bollocks.

Cold war paranoia seeping through.

It isn't socialist bull but more humanitarian, is compassion something you lack? Thought so.

"Let them eat mud. People have already tried and failed to show thay particular group of people the way." HAHAHAHAHA I just read this, are you the grand wizard of the KKK or do you always give off that vibe?

You clearly know nothing about Haiti. But hey, continue to derail the tread further.

That's the beauty of the forum,

What is 'beautiful' about not including quoted text for context?

Well, if your only intent is to create sow confusion and/or discord... maybe

although with that said the reply/quote system could use some work

As I have said before... nested quotes are totally broken.

Beauty in that context was used ironically. It could definitely use some work because I also agree, it can be confusing.

I'd rather know nothing than replace ignorance with more ignorance. What you think you know is that whitie tried to teach the barbarian how to live and they failed so now they eat mud.

You clearly know nothing.

The point could have been made about a number of countries Haiti was just the first off the top of my head, however, the point still stands. Millions raised for a building in days yet most of Europe is under the lock of austerity, it makes you laugh. Then you have a brainwashed American coming in with the crucifix because he smells socialism.

Move along. You're not helping your argument at all, you're a mental midget. You brought up a point that is completely unrelated to this thread and you clearly have no idea or comprehension on the the very subject that you tried to use to make your argument. Unluckily for you, I just happened to be someone that does know a little bit about your incredibly stupid complaint and I've called you out on it.

This thread is obviously not for you. If the roles were reversed id have backed out of it a long time ago already.

There's nothing for you to salvage here. Move on.

More proof of no god, can't stop a simple fire from happening and can't magically repair a building dedicated to him/her/it even though they are supposed to have created everything makes you think.

If I believed in whatever "God" is supposed to be, I can still come up with a good explanation as to why he/she/it would let it play out. It's that thing about chaos and adversity being needed for people to actively express their faith and commitment to the story. And what better way for this creature to capture the minds of the lazy believers than to have a cherished icon burn just before their holiest day of year?

Why should the Vatican pay for a French building?

File this under. We should’ve seen it coming .

Jesus Christ seen in the flames of Notre Dame cathedral .

Yeah I don’t buy it but I guess it’s worth posting anyway .

This would be a change since Jesus usually appears in toast, tortillas and cheetos.

Anyhoo you stated "Sure... you'd end up wiping out the wealth of everyone, and feed the poor for a day or two...

Good idea!"

Hope that helps you get back on track.

Sonny Jim, please keep in mind that manners maketh the Man nevermind cost very little.

Socialisms a label, common sense, on the other hand, well that seems to be in rather short supply, labels aside i know what I'm peddling.

So what are you shoveling then in return?

Capitalism per-chance, how's that working out for everyone?

I guess we should simply continue along the path we are headed and sit back and watch the social divide amongst our respective populations widen whilst the 1%ers get even more wealthy and powerful at the expense of everyone else?

Andy, as a fellow Scotsman I know that we butted heads in the past a couple of weeks ago or whatever it is but this is a different topic and in my mind a complete reset on that. So with that said, can you get behind any of the arguements that this dude has made? He's either completely trolling, or he's just a complete idiot in my opinion.

With regards to Notre Dame, sure, maybe the catholic church should have paid for the repair, but the law as written and described by the French themselves makes them completely liable. The French government own it. They should have to pay, by all recognised legal standards.

BUT!

A wealthy group of individuals have jumped in and are seemingly covering the cost, lightening the burden on the taxpayer. That's a good thing in my mind. I really believe (even though I'm not religious at all) that this is something worthy of the obvious altruism of the few French people that have put the cash up to cover the costs. I can't see the issue with that at all.

This dude on the other hand, is only bitching about how it could be better spent elsewhere? I can literally attribute that idea to almost anything I buy outside of the food that I need or for utilities.

That video game I bought, I could have sent that money to Somalia, or donated it to some other charity. Really, get #ed. We all do what we can, but you know, charity begins at home and I think there's absolutely nothing wrong with the willingly rich pumping money into this building.

I've been there, I'ts beutifull. It's worth saving.

shish! i have read that any thread, by the time 7 or 10 pages have gone by, is either a flame war or where the subject, maybe Trump, is now about carrots! i have read that usually about the second to fifth reply there is something Intelligent said. then downhill from that unless someone really brings in some new info.

i wonder what page 36 will bring?! a series of posts about strawberries and cream, perhaps!
