Now, they say you can't write a post about someone else. "Go after the ball, not the person"...they say.

However, this post isn't about someone "else". It's about ME. (so it should be 'okay', right?)

I post this thread so some of my detractors can star the post (not flag mind you).

I have nothing. I'm just a 56 year old guy who lives out in the country. I've done some stuff, but I'm paying my dues for all those things...now.

Last week I injured my back (again) and could barely walk. It was dumb, no great story; I picked up a shovel of dirt and rocks to my left and threw out my back. I couldn't barely walk for almost two days.

There was a time when I worked in really cold weather in Wyoming, but now I prefer 68F inside and about 55F outside (in the sunshine).

Of all the things I've done, none are better than just being alive. I love being here with my wife and dogs...and cows.

I'm not better than anyone else. I have a lot of great memories...things I did once (or more).

I never thought I was any better than anyone else...I'm not.

I've tried to take advantage of everything I ever imagined. Some things I've succeeded at and others, not so much.

I never thought there would even be a grave stone to tell about my life, and so, in the end...I could only try to be the best I could.

I have no misgivings, not to those who think ill of me, not to anyone. Not superman, not anything...

I am just...Bob.

Thank you, and God Bless!

Or maybe you hurt your back beating yourself up... you seem to be in the mood for it.

As I said in the last thread that you deleted, to me you are an ATS jem.

You know an awful lot about a lot of things and have no issue sharing them with the less fortunate in life experiences.

You have mad cooking skills... more than once I have broken my extremely rigid diet just to try things you've messed around with and posted.

You write quite well... you have taken me and others to places we will never go to and made us think we were there.

Your sense of humor to me is just perfect (except when you are being a cranky b!tch like right now.)

I'm not typing this a third time, so if you delete the thread again I am just going to have to go to Wyoming and kick your ass. Then you'll have to tell your friends that a cow kicked you or something because I'm a tiny lady.

Interwebz hugs to you because I know that back pain sucks and puts you off of your game.

Loser. Poser. Not calling you that just wondering why those two words don't rhyme? There are folk here that don't like you, FCD? Why? I do.

What's going on, friend? I hope you're not letting freaks get inside your head. There are some legit sociopaths on this site and they post a lot. There are a few legit dumb people here, and some legit dumb sociopaths. Don't let any of them get to you.

Like Lumenari said, you're a TOTAL GEM!!! Don't forget it. 💞💞💞💞

I have never deleted a thread you have posted. I wouldn't even know how to do that.

Thank you.

I'm not being "cranky" right now...I'm being realistic.

I'm not cranky...I'm just....sad...that others cannot understand...life sometimes involves a risk. Without it, you are disappointed, after the fact.

In the end...I just have to go feed some stupid cows right now.

The responsibilities never go away.

Bob,

You're full of life. You get of your backside and do stuff then relate your life stories on here including your cooking tips/recipes which I attempt to copy (inclusive of the spice for women which I will not name).

You have knowledge which I sometimes wish I could relate to particularly your experience flying.

Detractors are the armchair warriors whose only life's experience is doing what they do best, sitting in a room on a computer, detracting. Kinda like flat earthers and those that spend their time arguing the moon landing was a hoax. Leastways Armstrong and others did the unbelievable.

You posts and thoughts are appreciated and I'm gonna star and flag regardless of what you say.

Just one questions though / What does "GAK GAK GAK" mean?

Kind regards,

Bally

I'm sorry for assuming that your last rant got deleted... it's gone so maybe a Mod thought you were having a bad day and made it go away.

As far as the rest, we can either have responsibilities or delegate them... perhaps it's time to start thinking about some paid help.

The last 20 or so years my Great-Grandfather ranched it certainly wasn't him doing the feeding and fence repair, after all.

I'm your age, have 8 pieces of titanium in my back and was told once I would never run again and would need a cane to walk.

Proved them wrong.

However, there comes a time when you have to realize that you just can't do the stuff you did when you were 40... or even 50.

Some mornings when it first gets cold I can't reach down to put my socks on.

As far as what's ahead in life?

It's whatever you want it to be, with of course physical limitations that are never going to get any better.

So start planning... you are a smart cookie and will find something that involves more kitchen time with your wife and less time grinding your body to a pulp.

Yeah, as I posted earlier...I have to get up in the morning and inspect my body parts, to make sure they're all pointed in the proper direction, and working together.

I've been kicked, stomped, crushed, crumpled, broken, crowded, fallen, slammed...and too many other things I can't even imagine. At work I've been shocked, fallen from heights, ... but I still believed.

And I sit here...on ATS...some laugh about this. No matter. I can't take away all of that. I honestly wish I could

In any case, Thank you!

You never came across as being any better than anyone else, at least not to me. Hell people have thought ill of me since I came out of my mother's womb. Don't know why just the cards I was dealt. Made me a better man. They showed me what I don't want to be. You are a good writer and seem to teach as you do it. That is a gift. Anyway, that's what I see as I read.

I know about the back thing. I'm older than you. Here's a tip. If you move something heavy, that won't get you. It's the next stupid thing that will. My theory is that lifting heavy will compress the spine, but not decompress it, so for a couple of days you are especially vulnerable. So no twisting and go slowly and carefully for the next couple of days. Last time I lifted two spare tires - with wheels. Next day I twisted to sit down and BLAM! Got me. Just an idea, but it appears to work.

Could it be a few of us here at ATS have outgrew the site. It's been everything from great to intollerable. Yet we still have a good number of members with a well worn and working Moral Compass. And there are those who don't as well. There's a saying 'the apple don't fall far from the tree'. That is to say, some parents were good, and others failed misserably, all just the man on the street. Your like another character from 'That 70's show', someone familiar. We'll take you just the way you are............. a reply to: Flyingclaydisk

I don't think this can be overstated.

There are plenty of members that'd are better off ignored entirely. Not just "not responding," but not even reading the posts in the first place. That's not exclusive to ATS either, that's for sure.

Ever since I started maintaining a mental "ignore list," my ATS travels are significantly, significantly better.

Try it out? Just takes a bit of practice to start associating certain avatars/colors/names with the good old scrolling finger. Works everywhere on the interwebs too

Back injuries suck, right?

Heck, all I did was shovel a few rocks off to my left (I'm a righty) and a bit of sod. I walked 5 feet and felt worse every step. It was just a stupid shovel full. By the time I got back to where I wanted to put the dirt from my shovel...I was holding on to my shovel handle to even stand! Felt like a pussy.

Had to retire to the deck and the "wife unit" was not happy. Took two days to stand up straight and walk again like a "Bi-Ped" and not a Quadra-ped!
