I would say there were many levels about SIASL by Heinlein, he talked about polyamory, god eating ie the Eucharist - eating the Martian,

What I didn't know was this little gem
wiki

Waterbed Stranger in a Strange Land contains an early description of the waterbed, an invention that made its real-world debut in 1968. Charles Hall, who brought a waterbed design to the United States Patent Office, was refused a patent on the grounds that Heinlein's descriptions in Stranger in a Strange Land and another novel, Double Star (1956), constituted prior art.[17

Church is nothing more than a country club where like minded peeps go to interact with other like minded peeps so they can get a warm fuzzy about themselves. That and network. ETA.....AND LAUNDER MONEY. almost forgot that.

So we're to pretend abuse doesn't happen? A country club has contractual obligations to its members. Try suing the Catholic Church.

Next?

Damage control, they sacrificed Pell even though they tried to hide him in the Vatican, now Raztinger's running cover for Pope Francis...Got to keep business as usual. Its all about money & power.

You forget that Ratzinger was also chief Inquisitor.

"STUNNING"

Benedict offered his evaluations in a long essay in Klerusblatt, a monthly Church magazine in Bavaria, his native region of Germany. A Vatican official confirmed the authenticity of the essay.

Benedict said the impetus for the essay, titled "The Church and the Scandal of Sexual Abuse", was a summit of senior bishops that Francis, his successor as pope, held in February to discuss the crisis.

But in a rare essay, he said the Church's legal system had at times been overly protective of accused clerics, citing what he called judicial guarantees that were "extended to such an extent that convictions were hardly possible".

The 91-year-old, who in 2013 became the first pope in six centuries to resign, argued that the sexual revolution had led some to believe pedophilia and pornography were acceptable. He also said that an openly gay culture in some Catholic seminaries meant they had failed to train priests properly.

He is partially right, it also roughly coincided with the communist infiltration of the Catholic Church but it was also always present to a smaller degree.

maybe make your words clearer, abuse isn't really a laughing matter. In the context of Ratzinger words and the OP maybe you should keep things in perspective.
