The IRS knows it can ignore the angry Democrats.. and certainly the media screwballs.

They can subponea the information. Though, before that can be done a court generally requires that they ask politely first.

The highest ranking member is always high enough to make that call.

Additionally, that's just who you send the request to. Congress has the ability to get any IRS records a person has as part of it's oversight duties. This has been a law for about 90 years now, and is one of the most widely accepted SCOTUS decisions of all time.

They don't have the ability to answer no. This isn't a request they consider. They are legally required to turn them over. Saying no, results in a contempt of congress charge and while they could take that, and then be pardoned by Trump, they can just charge them again. Or subpoena they next person in line.

What is Trump going to do? Pardon the entire IRS for committing felonies? Even if he does that, Congress has the authority to use the capitol police to go and physically seize the servers the data is on. If the House wants this information, there is not a single law that can prevent them from getting it. The only way to do so is through lawless actions... and if the President is willing to commit such lawless actions to hide evidence of other crimes he is suspected of committing, then what does that say about anyone who supports him?

MAXINE WATERS immediately came to my mind. She is Chair of the HOUSE FINANCE COMMITTEE, and didn't know that banks are no longer making student loans, even though she is partly responsible for transferring that responsibility from banks to the Federal Government, back in 2009!

I don't think she'd understand the COVER LETTER on a Trump, Inc. tax return.

Congress subpoena's Trump's tax returns form the iRS. The IRS says "no." So Congress has the Capitol Police seize the IRS servers at tax time. That means tax refunds will stop. Those refunds are mailed out by the servers, and if the servers are in the possession of Congress, nothing gets mailed out.

Also, every single audit is immediately tainted and must be dismissed.

Also, every payment that comes in is considered late, if it even gets put into the system. Congress is notorious for finding money wherever they find it. "Oops, your payment was lost, sorry. You'll have to resend it." "The funds were withdrawn already." "Not our problem - talk to Congress. And don't forget the interest and penalties for it being late."

Yeah, let Pelosi decide to seize the IRS servers. A bunch of people who she just screwed royally will burn down DC with her in it!

Contempt of Congress is a federal misdemeanor, (not felonies) punishable by a maximum $100,000 fine and a maximum one-year sentence in federal prison.

Democrats and leftists have a bad habit of embellishing things and exaggerating to get to Trump. (But what you are doing is carrying their water using a crazy straw), going all over the map and off the map. It's a side effect of terminal TDS.
