Not much in the way of updates except to say physically Linda is doing great !

She is not eating much which is a bit concerning and mentally it is a slow process, although she did remember the names of our two cats ... baby steps.

Again I'd like to let you all know how much your thoughts, prayers and kind wishes mean to us on our journey.

I just wanted to let you know you both have a lot of support here.

There are probably quite a few of us just watching for updates and praying, sending vibes, etc. even if we aren't posting so much.

You and your family have been in my thoughts constantly since the first post

That is good, active is good. Her body will "remember" and that will flow over into her cognitive memory. It takes time.
I am thinking your avatar name is very appropriate? Aye?

...mentally it is a slow process, although she did remember the names of our two cats …
Well aren't they "very important" family members? WINK. Just thinking here, tactile stimulation from animals has been proved to be very beneficial. Perhaps the kitties cat visit?

... baby steps.
You will all be taking many "baby steps". It is such a long process, but you can do it, you have the heart. You have loved so much and been loved,

Thank You for the update and Thank You.
Just a hug.

edit on 10-5-2019 by WalkInSilence because: I fricken forgot something, why do I have to give an expaination? It just takes up space. WIS hugs to who ever reads this.

Still no interest in eating.

Feeding tube inserted ... traumatic.

Sent for x-ray to ensure correct placement ... all good.

Feeding tube removed soon after I left ...

New feeding tube inserted this morning ...

Sent for x-ray, all good ...

I phone up this evening to hear; feeding tube removed, whilst a Dr. observed ... !

She needs to eat !
The next step is a PEG which is a feeding port inserted into the stomach which carries risks.

I am trying to encourage calorific rich supplement drinks
which she will just reach for as she wishes.

Linda likes to be in charge and in control, I am thinking there is a relationship, which I will relay to the medical team on Monday. ( basic staffing and only specialists on call on weekends )

I hate seeing her crying out for me whilst she undergoes this traumatic procedure and then see her wrists restrained ... ineffectively. Over and over ...

Sorry to unload.

ED: I'm not sorry. I'm thankful to have an outlet as I am not one to get on the phone and complain, there are poor folk facing worse ... always.

Sense of smell is tied to appetite. If the right aroma is present then perhaps better results.

I googled "yummy smells to stimulate appetite"
One result was Top 5 Essential Oils for Boosting Appetite

Please don't apologize, we are here foryou. You just go on "unloading" and uploading when you feel like it.
This is not good, it must be heart wrenching. I think your approach regarding "control" could be used beneficially. Smart thinking.

I know that's traumatic, Timely. My thoughts are definitely with you, Brother and prayers extra-fervent for Linda and yourself.

I'd attempt a bro-hug in person
but here's a virtual one for now.

Feeding tube NOT re-inserted.

Linda is happily drinking calorie rich supplements which seems to have satisfied the Dr's.

I was informed last Thursday that a CT scan was scheduled for today. No nursing staff had any idea ...

I had one nurse go back to Thursday's notes where it WAS noted that a CT scan was due to be done today.

Apparently this was not noted nor followed up on.

My concerns have been noted and concerns passed on.

Hope tomorrow brings more professionalism.

( I feel for those without concerned family by their sides )

A day without a tube up your nose is a good day

I wonder if the CT techs were set up and waiting.

"Another no show."

"Maybe we should call an hour ahead of time to remind the Charge Nurse,
rather than waiting 15 minutes after scheduled procedure to ask what's what."

It's horrible when hospitals screw up. Like you, I feel for those who don't have concerned family members by their side.

I'm glad to hear that Linda no longer has the feeding tube. That was a huge issue for her.

Much love to you both!

All is as good as can be expected thanks WIS ...

Physically, Linda is walking without the need of equipment ( Just a nurse by her side ), Eating and drinking on her own ( not enough though ) she even cooked herself bacon and eggs this morning !

Confusion is still very real and will likely remain for some time. Today she was quite relaxed about things as opposed to constantly demanding that I put her in the car and take her home.

It is heartening to see her eating, as a PEG tube was on the cards ( a tube inserted into the stomach ) however a Dr. Informed me that that is on hold while she displays an interest in food.

Progress is progress and I am pleased and grateful to see that happening.

Onwards and upwards !
