Exclusive :
Adjective ... excluding or not admitting other things.

So Metro Exodus was the first game I was interested in that jumped ship and signed an exclusivity deal with the Epic Games Store and now it's revealed The Outer Worlds will be an Epic exclusive for 12 months , yeah I'm feeling excluded.

I already have the Steam and R* launchers why am I being forced to install another ?
I don't wanna do it but it looks like Tencent may just have got me ... and my data.

Well, to be honest, I've bought all the games I ever liked....I always looked at pirated copies as a sort of "test drive".

I have Steam and Origin, but I don't use Origin much anymore since BioWare games are no good, and there isn't much else EA has that's interesting. And it irritates me that anytime I want to launch one of my Origin games, I seem to have to uninstall/reinstall Origin in order to play.

Screw streaming, screw it where they stick a suppository.

I come from a nation whose internet is screwed, streaming is not an option for us. Physical drives always-when the servers go down I will laugh as I put a disc in my PS4 and press start to play.

People who think that streaming is the future are idiots. The cloud can collapse at any time, meanwhile my physical copies will last for decades-my copy of X-Wing is 25 years old, how long will a server last?

Keep it old school.

It's the evil game as service model. So long as every developer thinks they can run micro-transactions and other such things, they'll all want their own download platform too.

Sounds like a really good way to severely handicap their release........

They would have probably doubled or even trippled their release day/week sales had they gone with steam........

Steams not perfect by any means but there are some really sketchy issues going on with Epic Games, no thanks!

Enjoy it though, let us know how it is

Because Valve takes a 30% cut (I think), and Epic is like 12-14%. I'm sure some of the others are as low too.

This x1000, since hardly anyone puts out a demo anymore. I guess youtubers are the "Demo" now.

The only thing from Epic that I've cared for was Unreal Tournament. Guess I'll be picking up The Outer Worlds when it's finally put out on Steam, which I'm perfectly fine with, as by that point some DLC and discounts will be available.

I used to pirate games mostly for archival purposes. Early Nintendo and Sega games and the like are not easy to come by. These days, I buy lots of games, more than I play.

Anyway, is The Outer Worlds coming to consoles at first?

Epic stores is forcibly removing choice.

So they can go # themselves.

I'll go out of my way to not buy on their platform. I already do Origin, Steam, GoG, Ubi launcher because holy crap i hate ubisoft lol, uhh Blizzard launcher, I AM GOOD ON STUPID LAUNCHERS...

looks like ill have to buy from microsoft...

I'm not giving you battle royale clowns a nickel.

It will also be available at the Microsoft store.

I have Steam, Origin, Blizzard, and GOG myself.

The main reason they're going to Epic Games is because of that 30% that Valve (Steam) takes, where as Epic is 12-14%. The more the developer makes, the more they can invest in their own company. That allows them to give pay raises, hire more people and produce more content, either as DLCs or new games.

So while I'm not exactly thrilled that my choices are Epic Game / Microsoft store or wait a whole year until it's available at say Steam, I do understand where they (Obsidian) are coming from.

Im 46 years old and have been gaining since I was 10. I like having a hard copy of my games. But you clearly do not understand the implications of 5g. Streaming IS the future, and those who do NOT see that are the idiots.

Not our fault you live in a country with crap internet. I've not had a single streaming issue in years, and 5g will increase reliability and download speeds immensely. If course the will be bugs to work out, but it is going to revolutionize both gaming and household applications.

High speed streaming is only available to those here in the US that live in or very close to cities here in the US.

For someone like me, who lives out in the country, I'm on the edge of the DSL shell. Max download speed for me is 1.5 M bits per second, and that's on a good day.

It's been like that for 15 years now, with no signs that ATT is going to upgrade anything soon. Cable is also not an option as cable terminates well before you even get half way where I live.

So a game that is a 50 GB download is going to take a few days to download. Can't tie up the internet 24/7 but instead allow downloading during the night while everyone is asleep for 6 to 7 hours.

I find it quite amusing at how ignorant some are into thinking that everyone has access to extreme speeds of the internet, when it's simply not true.
