Ya'll are hoping for an earthquake now. Aren't you.

Admit it.

Not fair...

Personally I respect the notion that a chaotic process like earthquakes have no proven underlying principal and it is just random shaking here and there.

But...what if somebody discovers a correlation by accident. Wouldn't that have the potential to save thousands of lives.

Do you want people to die?

See how that works? It's not fair.

Somebody is dedicating a large portion of his time looking at a chaotic process trying to find a correlation. As of yet there isn't any but I hope somebody, someday will and all that try can count on my support.

Your 42 answer did crack me up though..

Peace

I have been lurking ATS for long, long time. Then decided to sign up for this site. I was a fan of yours. Debunking and knowledge stuff. But man lately you just.... keep doing it and sometimes you aren't always right. These scientific data/graph means nothing. Not all of them, at least. I don't care if you work for Government or CSI, or a humble intellectual citizen resident in Hawaii, just cut it down. You're not always right. This is a f conspiracy site.

It would be quite easy to graph.

Once upon a time I may have bothered, but my care factor is pretty low, mainly because while people like TA are worrying about phantom earthquakes caused by the moon, I am actually prepping for something very real, namely a huge storm surge and cyclone bearing down on me, made worse by the huge tides the moon is bringing.

I just wanted to point out that the sun is right above Tanzania and they've just had a M 5.1 and a shallow one too

I understand your scepticism but what is gained by ridiculing people who are trying to discover stuff on their own...you know "do your own research", "keep an open mind" etc etc..

Anyway, I hope you stay save and good luck with that storm.

Peace

Those are straight from the EMSC list, filtered at mag 5+

Got it.

Red : Earthquakes with a magnitude ≥ 5 in Euro-med, or ≥ 6 in the world

That said, unless we get some bigger quakes in the next few days, this supermoon of March 20,2019 may be one case where it doesn't occur.
I think it doesn't happen more often than it does.

When my wife is having an uncomfortable time of the month, more often than not, we dont have any major issues. I guess me being a little extra sensitive during those times was for nothing then and I should just stop worrying?

When I walk through a dangerous neighborhood at night, more often than not, I make it home safely with no problems. I guess it was silly of me to keep my eyes peeled and carry protection.

More often than not, watching scrambled porno channels on TV when I was 12 didn't really show anything exciting, so I guess you're gonna sit there and tell me I was an idiot for staring at the screen for 5 minutes straight. Well jokes on you. I saw a part of a boob... I'm pretty sure. Maybe it was the reflection of my own image but either way I'm convinced there was a boob right there. In the boob-tube, that is.

If it advanced our understanding of seismic activity and help to formulate a new, effective way of predicting quakes? Yeah I hope there is one. A 7.0, in the middle of nowhere... a monkey will fall out of a tree and bruise his bum. But hopefully an area teeming with seismic monitors and hi tech sensors like in the movie Twister. Except with earthquakes. I dont know, use your imagination!

In fairness to Phage, this is a theory that only has circumstantial evidence to support it - and even TA has stated on this thread that he doesn't necessarily believe in this theory, more that he finds it interesting.

TA is correct to show there could be a link. Phage is equally correct to show that it may be nothing more than coincidence.

The final point would be that yes ATS may be a conspiracy site, but unlike places like BeforeitsNews or GLP the site motto is Deny Ignorance. In other words, members are encouraged to challenge and debate each other, particularly in forums like Fragile Earth (it isn't in Skunk Works).

My own views on this are somewhere between TA and Phage. I agree with TA that it is an interesting theory and there does, at times, appear to be anecdotal evidence to support this theory. However, i also agree with Phage that the data does not necessarily support this evidence. If the Super Moon theory were 100% correct, the data would demonstrate large scale earthquakes at every super moon. 5+ and 6+ quakes are quite large but not very large and the data shows they are more common during super moons than any large quakes but then that is the same for any other day.

And those with conspiracies are not always right. In fact, they are usually wrong. So injecting some common sense and logic into the proceedings is good from a "omg we are all gonna die"! perspective, as well as driving the subject matter forward. Sometimes having a devils advocate is great for breaking something down further. Working in a vacuum won't actually reveal much truth, it just gathers all believers into the same spot.

Oh it's coming all right.

I did a thread correlating Super moons with quakes, the results are too similar to be false. Another member has noticed increased activity, I believe the phases of the moon can help predict seismic disturbances.

The shower may not make the phone ring, but I promise you looking into your phone while stopped at a traffic signal makes the light go green faster. I promise you, you can try the experiment yourself. Time a routine light you always catch on red but don't bother with your phone. Just wait there for it like normal. Then in another instance, right after, the same exact time the next day, whenever is good for you, time it again but go into your phone. The time feels like it goes by quicker!!!

So now when I wait for a light, I just go into my phone and no more being annoyed with a forever light. It just goes by quickly.

I have a flip phone. Not much to look at.

But you've been in front of me a few times. Had to honk to get you moving. You flipped me off once.

Cause and effect.

... I guess my applying to make a 'Study' of shallow EQs in the large acreages of abandoned Fracking Wells would not be funded by the Government

see, the Fracking, filled up the voids in the strata still held perhaps a small 10% of the stranded, unrecoverable oils locked in the rocks -->
But with the voids then filled with 'Fracking Fluid', the SuperMoon so near the Earth, should be putting some sort of stress on those pathways/tubes/porous strata/chambers/pools, which were refilled to the condition the ground was in---> When the Petroleum and Natural Gas was likely to Ooze out of the ground because of the 100% full up Reservoir

we presumed that Fracking suddenly made old, dry well States...Suddenly seismically Active again...with dozens or hundreds of shallow tremblers in areas that were silent for decades after the Wells tapped out

but that idea may be wrong too..... Tidal Action and Gravity just fog up any real answer

plate tectonics/ seafloor spreading & subduction zones seems the main focus,... oh... and those volcanos & hot spots that penetrate the thin surface crust

i give up -->
