India vs Pakistan... why is this even an issue on the US defense radar. Neither country are worth anything. Neither have any strategic advantage. I mean, the only possible plus of the defense of India is the investment in US to indian call centers for tech support.

The MiG-21 used by India isn't the same MiG-21 that went up against F-4s in Vietnam. They're quite a bit more capable, and are on par with some 4th Gen aircraft. The MiG-21 bis is an all weather, multi-role aircraft. The MiG-21-93 has improved engines, pulse doppler radar, helmet mounted sight, MFDs, improved HUD, and is capable of using more advanced missiles in the air to air role.

It is. They even gave some of our pilots a run for their money, albeit under very strict ROE and conditions we wouldn't normally see, but it was still a surprise.

The MiG-21-93 was upgraded with the Phazotron Kopyo radar. It's a lightweight version of the N010 Zhuk radar used in the MiG-29 Fulcrum. It gives them a detection range of 35 miles against non-stealthy, fighter sized targets, as well as the ability to track 8 targets, while attacking two simultaneously. The other upgrades give them the capability to carry the R-77(AA-12), which is the equivalent of the AIM-120 AMRAAM.

You do realize they’re nuclear powers right? And one with ICBM capabilities them going all out is an issue for the world not just the region...
