Whilst i would have thought that India would have had the larger financial muscle? How does their airfleet stand up against that of Pakistan? Given the US military aid pakistan seems to have received over the years?
so trump and russia both friendly to india as opposed to pakistan just buying weapons from russia and china isnt exactly the best friends with china but they have urged restraint
If tensions continue to worsen between the two countries, India may have to gain support from its biggest allies. Russia has been a close ally of India since its independence and they are also one of the biggest partners in bilateral trade. USA President Donald Trump is also said to be pro-India due to receiving a lot of funding from Hindus in his campaign for president.

Given that Pakistan is armed and supported by Russia, it really isn't a far cry that's why they were able to down an Indian aircraft.
Do not forget the Russian/Pakistan connection.
