The Univision network said six of its staffers, including veteran anchorman Jorge Ramos, were briefly detained at the presidential palace in Caracas, Venezuela, on Monday.

Ramos and the crew members were released a little less than three hours after the episode began.

The network said Ramos was in Caracas to interview embattled Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro. Univision spokesman Jose Zamora said Maduro objected to Ramos' questions.

"Very shortly into the interview, Maduro didn't like the line of questioning, and they stopped the interview," Zamora said.

Univision says Jorge Ramos and 5 other staffers have been detained in Venezuela

Even though they were released all their equipment was confiscated, including the recordings of the interview.

Although I disagree in a lot of topics with Jeorge Ramos, in this I do agree with him.

This is what happens to the press that decides not to spew the lies of the dictatorship of Maduro.

Updates keep coming from Univision. Now they are saying that the equipment was returned to Univision.

The fact is the interview was cut short and Maduro ordered the detention of the entire team of Univision because the socialist dictatorship does not want the truth out.

This is why Chavez and Maduro shut down all media that were not controlled by the regime. This is why reporters and human rights activists have been detained. The socialist dictatorship of Maduro, like all other socialist/communist dictatorships, do everything they can to control the narrative.

They insert/inserted chavistas with protesters to start conflicts and make it look like the protesters are violent.

BTW, to those that don't know Jeorge Ramos and Univision in general are "very left-wing." But Chavistas, the dictatorship of Maduro, and the blind socialists/communists who follow them, will claim Univision and Jeorge Ramos are "part of the imperialist propaganda..."

Knowing the past behavior of Ramos, I wouldn't be surprised to find out he was inciting the Venezuelan authorities to arrest him.

I'm not defending the current Venezuelan authority in any way, shape, or form, but this schmuck Ramos has lost any and all integrity into trusting his journalism. Once a paid liar, ALWAYS a paid liar.

New Update!

Jeorge Ramos has stated that the only thing that Maduro gave him back was his cell phone. The earlier reports that Maduro gave back all their equipment was false.

Ramos also stated that Maduro began getting anxious during some questions, but when Ramos showed Maduro a recording of some Venezuelan youths looking for food in the trash is when Maduro got up, and ordered the detention of Ramos and his team.

wow... oldtimer, you have no idea what in the world you are talking about. We might never know for certain how many Venezuelans have been murdered directly by the government of Maduro and Chavez because such figures are hidden within the amount of murders that have increased during the reign of both dictators.

In 1999 when Chavez took power there were 4,555 homicides in Venezuela, and by 2009 there were 16,047 homicides according to the OVV.

Venezuela murder-rate quadrupled under Chavez: NGO

In 2017 there were 26,616 homicides according to the Venezuelan Observatory of Violence.(OVV) Out of these there were 5,535 cases whose victims were categorized as being killed for resisting authority. In other words, those 5,535 murders is the figure given officially by the Venezuelan government of protesters they murdered in 2017 alone. That's not even counting the murders by the hands of Chavistas who were armed by Chavez and Maduro meanwhile the rest of the populace has been disarmed.

Number of homicides in Venezuela in 2017, by categorization

Since Chavez and Maduro disarmed the populace, but armed Chavistas and ordered the police and military to kill some protesters to try to stop other protests, and since the only people armed are those loyal to Chavez/Maduro, the increase in murders in Venezuela is directly tied to the repression against protesters.

Those of you, leftists every one of you, who want to claim that it is safer in Venezuela are denying the truth because NONE OF YOU want to admit what your utopia truly does in a country.

Most of you haven't even lived under such "terror," but you want to deny the testimony of Venezuelans who have been able to escape, or even "dissidents" such as students who have been tortured daily in the socialist prisons for disagreeing with the socialist dictatorship.

EU blacklists top Venezuelan officials over torture, rights abuses

Venezuela’s Brutal Crime Crackdown: Executions, Machetes and 8,292 Dead

The torture that has been used mostly on civilians, but also against military personnel who have been caught trying to leave, or refused orders. Such torture includes daily beatings, electrocution to the point that in some prisoners their toenails explode, crucifixion (yes crucifixion too), stress positions for up to a week, prisoners being bled to make them lightheaded and then interrogate them, etc, etc. All of this is done to people for simply disagreeing with the socialist dictatorship. Yet leftists living safely in CAPITALIST nations want to claim that none of this is true. Every one of you disgust me.

Student leader Lorent Saleh, who was imprisoned for 4 years and was tortured for peacefully protesting against the regime has stated that he saw men crucified as a form of torture.
¡ENTREVISTA DE IMPACTO! Lorent Saleh: Vi a presos colgados tres días de una reja, crucificados

The above interview is in Spanish, but anyone can use google translate, or some other translator, so I won't be accused by leftists who can't understand Spanish that I am making this up.

If you want to make light of the suffering of other people, you should make your own thread and do whatever you want. But in here stick to the topic, or stop trying to derail the thread. Thank you.
