Perhaps often, but not always. You are wise to wait for more information here. Most of the time, a "rub shack" is run by a set of foreign immigrants, many times undocumented, that perform a service. From what I understand, there is a large group of people that are advocating for more of that in this country.

Asian Day Spas are notorious for prostitution... we just had a bust here in my little suburb. Seems like they bust one or two every year.

They should just legalize it and ensure workers are eager, legal, and of age. Waste of time and resources.

You pay some chick at a day spa for a happy ending it is illegal prostitution, but you buy a chick a steak and lobster dinner and get the same in return then we call it a date.

From an article at ABC, Kraft is only charged with "soliciting another to commit prostitution" but it seems the spa is suspected of human trafficking --

As for the human trafficking case in Martin County, Snyder described the operation as an 8-month, multi-agency investigation. “The tentacles of this go from here to New York to China, in Florida from here to Orange County,” Snyder said.

Snyder stressed the case is bigger than what was disclosed Tuesday.

“I think it’s very safe to say without any hyperbole that this is the tip of the iceberg,” Snyder said.

Many of these places employ illegal immigrants and the workers are forced into it. They do the same at asian nail salons in many cases.

I think prostitution should be legal as long as it is between two consenting adults. I do agree authorities should be investigating any kind of human trafficking.

What I find more interesting is how all the rich and powerful seem to know which places to visit... there must be like 10 of these joints within 2 square miles in my town. They all look the same from the outside. I get massages at my gym for back pain. The masseuses are very nice and professional. The massages are very clinical.

I've always known Asian Day Spas were fronts for prostitution rings. I mean none of these places look like the kind of place anyone would go to for a legit massage imho unless you were specifically looking for sexual undertones.

The way I read the alert that came through my friend's phone was that he basically tried to get a "happy ending" at an Asian massage parlor. It didn't mention anything about kids.

That doesn't surprise me. I know it's a problem with illegal immigration from south of the border. It's just a byproduct of the black market.

In theory, I agree -- whatever consenting adults decide to do is their right and privilege -- but it doesn't always work so well in practice. There is so much/too much room for abuse. I have no idea how to go about regulating or policing the industry though. And, in the end, sunlight is the best disinfectant, so a legal and free market will always beat the black market.

All I have seen so far he is that he banged a couple prostitutes, that the business were trafficking. Why are people talking like its kids?

Maybe someone more up to speed with the laws involved can enlighten us:

BBC is saying he's charged with a misdemeanor for soliciting prostitution. "Just" a misdemeanor, but the spa is charged with trafficking,

If it comes to pass that the spa indeed has been trafficking, will his charges be bumped to something higher than a misdemeanor?

Or is he off the hook for bigger charges because he just visited for a happy and had no idea what was going on (supposedly)?

If the latter is the case, I think his name in here is sort of a nothingburger. Who cares if someone pays for sex? Prostitution should be legal (as long as it's consensual).

If the girls were doing these things under duress, that really sucks and the spa owners should get the book thrown at them, but if Kraft truly had no idea, how can he be held at fault for it?
