A used SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket successfully launched an Israeli moon lander along with an Indonesian communications satellite from Cape Canaveral Air Force Station in Florida tonight (Feb. 21). After deploying its two payloads into orbit, the Falcon 9's first stage returned to Earth and aced a landing (the third for this booster) on SpaceX's drone ship "Of Course I Still Love You," which was stationed in the Atlantic Ocean. Liftoff occurred at 8:45 p.m. EST (0145 Feb. 22 GMT) just as the moon rose above the horizon here.

Apparently Israel funded a moon mission through SpaceX...

Not only did Israel Launch. But Japan launched a mission with a different objective!

A Japanese space probe has fired a "bullet" into an asteroid as part of a mission to collect rock samples from the celestial body.
The projectile will disturb material from the exterior of asteroid Ryugu which will then float from its surface due to the weak gravitational field.
These particles will be collected by the probe and eventually brought back to Earth, according to Japanese space agency JAXA, which announced that the Hayabusa 2 craft successfully touched down on on the asteroid on Friday morning Japanese time.

Two missions launched within 24 hours, within 2 days of Trump signing the order to create the United States space force...

Are our allies in Israel and Japan preparing space infrastructure to join the US in space domination?

Or are these events a precursor to acknowledge a force that's been there for over 50 years?

How do the governments of the world justify sending aid to countries that have a space programs capable of getting to the moon???

Absolutely disgusting

Weird how they will do this but they won't sen manned missions to the moon. I'm not one of those people who doubts they actually went to the moon. I just don't think it's enough to go there once just to say we did and not do it again because it's been done. Hey. People have flown across the ocean! That's been done. Don't need to do it again!

It's strategic military aid to an allied country, not humanitarian aid as you suggest.

Countries that need money for ANY aid shouldn’t have money laying around for space exploration.

Seems like paying for a neighbours broken windows while they pay for a new pool to me

I don't subscribe to coincidence at all. So the mission has been planned for awhile and SpaceX originally did not get the 160mil or something close for the contract for the future launches and that original contract went to Boeing. Then SpaceX sent a complaint to NASA and the Pentagon. Then just a few days before the already scheduled launch takes place they get I believe 257mil from the gubment......UMMMMM something is up and needs to be looked at but ultimately us the average folk are not privy to such knowledge. Something is afoot though. These type of things don't just happen man.
So you are right on the money dude.

Beats me , the UK handed over £52m last year to India and is due to hand over £46m this year even though they are ploughing money into their own space missions.

I don't disagree with giving foreign aid but there must be a better way to spend the money than helping countries compete in space.

The US has space domination, it also dominates anything above 65,000 feet and probably anything below that.

It's propaganda to say otherwise.

Name one other nation that can take space based assets out with a conventional jet fighter?

That's public knowledge, who knows what else the US is capable of.

It's just one of those things, the world is messed up.

Many parts of India are as bad as war torn countries, we help because people suffer... We also give China money for causes too.

Their own nations should sort it out.

Then again look at our own nation, money could be better spent to serve the people here too.

Plus they can take on the Chinese on the moon better than we can. Our Politicians were giving our country, for their own profit, to the Chicoms before the orange man got elected.

If it’s so bad that you need other countries help dealing with but still manage to find resources for a space program I think those in charge of the purse strings need to reasses their priorities

I guess your one of those Israel first dudes, no?

I bet that one is like me, for the idea of freedom for all not just certain tribes of people as the whole area is full of the gene pool of the "Tribes of Israel".

SO, why can't the ME leave their cousin's alone (not just the tribe of Judah or Levi they go after) and try to make a peace? If people would just stop lobbing missiles into their country, like we would demand for our families if it was going on around us.
Simple stuff really, ya know?

They're both terrorists.

To pick one side over the other is just falling into the trap the MSM want you to.

Independent thought.

This private Israeli mission to the moon has intrigued me greatly. Considering what Israel is makes it all the more suspicious imho...

First ever privately funded mission to the moon (that we know about 'publicly'). Lander called Beresheet meaning 'in the beginning' in Hebrew.

And they're taking a time capsule of 'cultural and historical Israeli artifacts' too. Why???

All this to me makes it sound super dodgy. Wonder what the 'actual' mission really is?!

Carrying instrumentation to measure the magnetic field of the moon, a laser-reflector provided by NASA and a time-capsule of cultural and historical Israeli artifacts, the mission will ride into space as a secondary payload...

If we're sending our tax money to Israel, I think we're allowed to be critical of their agenda's.

That doesn't make us anti-Israel, it makes us informed citizens concerned how our money is being used.

I think Israel is doing just fine on their own , they don't really need military aid.

Israel is 7th largest arms exporter in the world Almost half of Israeli weapons exported over past 5 years to India, with other main buyers being Azerbaijan and Vietnam; in imports, Israel is 17th in the world, which increased its arms purchases by 125% over the past 5 years, buying 60% of its weapons from the US.
www.ynetnews.com...

American military aid to Israel helps America who are after all the largest arms exporter in the world . death = jobs so everyone wins.

But I guess your one of those anti Israel dudes, no ?

It's the right of every free thinking individual to be anti the Israeli government for obvious reasons.
