I listened to the whole thing. So Tucker got frustrated at trying to have a debate with an intellectual lightweight and it caused him to lose his cool.

I'm amazed that everybody doesn't get this be fault.

Remember the big kerfuffle about He Who Shall Not Be Named (okay, Alex Jones) being "just an entertainer?"

Duh.

It's really not rocket science...

Yeah, it ain't rocket science which is why he is a "historian" and not a very good one. As Tucker pointed out, high tax rates during the 40s, 50s, & 60s did not necessarily mean people paid those rates.

Secondly, the the US economy at that time was pretty much the ONLY economy since WWII destroyed the industrial base of other first world countries so there was a huge broad middle class in the US with high wages as companies didn't have to compete globally for both markets AND labor.
The tax rates by themselves had nothing to do with the booming economy. It would be like claiming that because it rained a lot during that time, raining makes an economy boom without consideration to other factors.

What frustrates conservatives when we try to have a reasoned and logical debate with leftist is that you guys, even supposedly educated academics are so shallow analytically. You can't look beyond the surface of any data and deduce what the data is really saying, nor can you connect dots and see other factors. To make it even worse, you sit there like this smug professor and talk in this condescending manner.

So yeah, I get why Tucker flipped out on this twerp.

Guest refuses to actually debate on the basis of facts and actual history, finally irritating the host because its like talking to a brick wall, then the guest claims victory......

I looked up Cato Institute on Wikipedia: Yep, started out as Charles Koch Foundation in 1974. And Tucker Carlson is a Senior Fellow.

I don't watch Tucker Carlson's show but I can remember when Democracy Now went to the 2008 RNC convention in Minnesota. The country was in a major economic crash. The camera crew caught up with Tucker in a hotel, drunk as a skunk smoking a big fat cigar. It showed in a segment about how the upper crust was weathering the crash, cocktail parties and imported cigars.

Speaking of that convention, the opening featured a serious propaganda piece showing how the U.S. must destroy Iran or else. I can't find it on youtube but I still remember it. "If you vote for a Democrat then you will be voting for the destruction of Israel and the U.S. Vote Republican and bomb Iran." (not an exact quote, paraphrase from memory)


Bomb Iran kind of became the de facto Republican slogan.

Tucker is all stressed out and triggered because all the big corps that advertised on his show are bailing ....
