As a woman, I don't like it either. Did you know that if you go out and do research on why you mainly only hear about boys with Asperger's Syndrome, it's because the girls are very under-recognized. Do you know why that is? Girls with ASD tend to act and behave a lot like little boys, enough so that they might start to think they *are* little boys.

Also, if you go out and do some poking around, you'll discover that a lot of kids who start to think they are transgender are actually autistic, say ASD? Perhaps even those girls with ASD? They aren't actually transgender. Their disorder is different. They perceive the world different and their brains work different. They are *not* little boys in female bodies, but in today's society that wants to put everyone in neat little boxes, they get misdiagnosed and end harming themselves irreparably.

There just has been a huge push over recent years to sexualize children, whether it's about straight sex or not.

Even in Music, it's all about sex, Identity, gay and lesbian. Mostly those under 16 listen to or watch the vids online.

Funny how I several gay coworkers, and they're fine. Of course, they aren't out to teach my kids about all the intimate details of gay life and how it differs from hetero life, either. Nope just life.

Of course, if they were ... a lot of it would quickly devolve to the bedroom, and most normal people don't think that's appropriate to discuss around children.

It would be regardless of whether we were explaining the finer points of the differences from the hetero side or the homo side. All things being equal and relatively normal, that is the only difference -- what happens in the bedroom.

The tongue-in-cheek is that if gay relationships are exactly like hetero ones, the only reason you need to teach anyone about them and how they're different and wonderful is to delve into the bedroom which you should not be doing with kids in story time.

A storytelling session in a library is being painted by some on here as trying to initiate children into becoming gay - some have even not bothered reading the actual article (quelle surprise on ATS) and seem to think this is classroom teaching that is attempting to indoctrinate. The thread is not about LGBT month, it is about teaching kids, during these celebrations of sexuality, about being gay.
Celebrate all you like, but just leave the kids the f*** out of it.
Would you like some S&M crowd to be teaching kids about their sexuality during whatever time they deem it appropriate to celebrate the sh** they do in the bedroom? How about stripper month? Bring in a pole and teach the kids about pole dancing and lap dancing?

You seem to be directly suggesting there is an element of explicit sexual detail being shared with children - could you please point out exactly where that is written?

Within the demographic of the council if it is statistically in line with the rest of the UK there will be kids with one parent figure in their life of either sex, some where the two parent figures are of mixed sex and some where the two parent figures in their life are of the same sex. If an outcome of this session was that kids understood that not everyone is the same but that doesn't make anyone better or worse than anyone else based on that then all is good and hopefully it's one more step to becoming a well rounded human being and not an emotionally retarded bigot. I guess there weren't similar sessions where you grew up?
