To be honest, I don't see the United States presidency as a popularity contest. I see it as a job someone was hired to do that has the primary goals of protecting the nation, managing the external policies, and setting the stage for the VP to manage the internal affairs of state.

Getting results, to me and many others, is a lot more important than being popular. Being popular is a worry in high school.

Many times you need to do the unpopular thing to get results.

Appeasement never works.

Also, fear of ones image is for Hollywood elites, not a president.
