GDP calculations include corporate income. In most countries, corporations do pay taxes - but not in the US. ...The US tax burden is shouldered by the poor and middle class - kind of a K-mart approach: quantity not quality.

...So your graph really doesn't mean much megaquad. Too much information missing.

Corporations do pay taxes.
Example: www.heritage.org...
The United States’ top federal income tax rate is 35 percent. The top corporate tax rate is 35 percent. Government expenditures as a share of GDP increased less in 2003 (0.4 percentage point to 35.9 percent) than they did in 2002 (0.7 percentage point).

In most other countries people pay taxes of more than 50% of their income, but not in US where government consumes much less than half of GDP.
But of course, any data which proves that US is not in imminent danger of demise and horrible economic implosion must naturally be false and full of 'missing information' which show that corporations are evil and exploit the poor.

The heritage foundation is a well known conservative think tank.

Its research work will be skewed to the right. This is just logic.

The US has been in moral decline since the 1960s. Moral decline always precedes the fall of an empire. Often times there is a little flirtation with dictatorship prior to a complete collapse.

What's interesting is the mechanism of how morality destroys a nation. In our case I think it makes the populace afraid and apathetic. There is no concern about corrupt government or the fact that government essentially represents foreign interests (international corporations) rather than the people.

Thus government will not put in sensible tariffs (say equal to the 30% Chinese tariff on all of our goods), they won't defend the borders and they will not attempt to address the dependence on foreign oil. They also will continue to inflate the currency, and try to pay off their debt obligations with worthless paper money. Moreover they will defend corporate profits with US forces as needed. Thus the great fear of our forefathers, of having a king who uses the military as a way to gain personal wealth and power has come true. Bad things will follow.
