I'm surprised to see you are buying into this rhetoric. Trump chose to end the shutdown, it was also his choice when it began. The Dems could have ended it by allowing the wall money, and Trump could have ended it by accepting the lack of wall money, which he did. Both parties used the shutdown as a way to apply pressure, but I think the Democrats where more righteous in this case. Trump is the one who insisted on linking the wall question with the pay of federal workers. Both parties want to keep government open and pay the workers. They don't agree about the wall, but that doesn't mean they should close down the whole government just because they can't agree about 5.7 billion dollars; they can still do other stuff that they happen to agree about.

Trump decided to end the shutdown, and this gives him the bonus of his supporters saying he's the one who cared about the workers. But remember that he took that money away in the first place. The hand that gives can take away.

Is it the right time and place to point out that today’s actions just put Congress on notice that they either come up with a deal for a wall or Trump declares a state of emergency to build the wall on his own. That part is obvious.

What is less obvious is all kinds of fun things can happen without any input from Congress at all such as “Due to the state of emergency and in consideration that the wall cannot be built overnight, the safety and security of all US citizens must remain paramount. Therefore Constitutional Carry is now legal in all 50 states until this state of emergency is over.”

Or “In order to facilitate expedited funding for the wall during this state of emergency, all federal funding for Planned Parenthood and NPR has now appropriated for wall construction costs.”

Yep, raise up all the cheers you desire, but be prepared to get to work on Trump’s Wall. Failure to do so means uncomfortable consequences from being left out at the table.
