At least Vegas is all about the strip. It is a dry heat and there is water sprayed at fans at regular intervals.
Just like Disney Land !

Vegas is also in the Mojave desert ...

Death Valley is not that far away.

49.5 in Port Augusta is a different animal ...

I'm somewhat closer to the south pole at 43S and even here it's tipped to get up 37C+ tomorrow.
Our record high here is about 41C in the capital but plenty cold drinks in the fridge prepared for it.

40C+ summer days is one of the reasons I headed south last millenium so hang in there all you good north island people

That'll be me in about 6 months - woodfire raging and trying not to break any bones on the ice-covered steps outside.

Where I am,we just got over close to -40 C after windchill, now its 0 degrees, the snow is melting and we are getting rain and freezing rain.
The temps will drop again and anything wet will be ice again.

Good times.

You lucky sods i love the heat scraping snow off the path this morning is not funny .

I remember working with a bloke from Melbourne many years ago and him telling me he had never seen snow before as we had a pint in the bar .

The look on his face when i told him it can get 10 x colder than your freezer box at home -- priceless

Today is our last "warm day" of a brief reprieve at 26*F/3*C for at least a week -- that's the temp right now and the sun just rose. This is as warm as it's going to get today, it gets colder from here out.
For the next week, our highs will be between 17*F/-8*C and 8*F/-13*C and our lows will be between 0*F/-17*C and -6*F/-21*C. And those highs & lows aren't set in stone, lol, it probably WILL end up colder for both. We had similar temps earlier this week and the forecast temps literally just kept getting colder every forecast update. I think we got down to -15*F/-25*C one night.

I'm semi-familiar with the kind of temps Oz can spit out, Florida can have some serious heat waves and the heat index can cross into Retarded territory down there easily. After a growing up there and getting the Oz Lite summer highs with the added fun of insane humidity, nope, I'll keep my Great Lakes icebox temps. Not enough money on the planet to bribe me into trading back. You can have the Human BBQ temps, no need to share!

Hot summer in Australia. Thanks for the update.

In other news, our high temp one day next week is -19c. Setting all new cold records again this winter in the USA.

sounds like typical mid summer Florida, minus the humidity.

I read over the weekend about your heatwave. They were saying that (i think it was) Sydney broke world records for overnight temperatures with a minimum temperature of 98 Fahrenheit - does that sound right?

I love hot weather but not overnight!

Go claim that free beer.

I've worked in 46 before, it ain't pleasant, especially if you are working on a roof-forget cat on a hot tin roof, it was cake on a hot tin roof.

I swear you could fry an egg on the roof. Maybe you could go Cooper Pedy and burrow underground.
