TASS claims the first flight will be in ...Novosibirsk in July or August.

tass.com...

However, the aircraft has spotted on sat in...Akhtubinsk’s 929th Chkalov State Flight-Test Center. Which is about 3,000 km away.

hm. Did the sat see another one? A mockup? Or are they shipping it via transport?

Maskirovka indeed.

It has left the ground in several hops to proof the flight control laws already at Novosibirsk. The real first flight will occur later in the summer, yes. It's in my link. I think you actually talked about and questioned that plan some time back, but I'm too lazy to hunt for it.

Who knows what was at Chkalov Centre-- Mock up, if I had to guess, given the news and the nice display.

The Russians state its a UCAV.

And they've stated they want it air-to-air capable. And a Su-57 just showed up with the Okhotnik/Su-70 all over it (though that one is supposed to be flight testing -70 subsystems)...

On their way towards a loyal -wingman LO UCAV.

Article confirms it is to be used in concert with the Su-57. Will be interested in how that evolves...

Is it missing the exhaust shroud or is this more of a test bed for the AL-31 or AL-41 engines?

It may just not have one period. The Russians seem to be less interested in all aspect stealth.

Aren't they for creating turbulence in a wind tunnel, so that they can measure airflow?

eh. Depends. The nearest equivalents of the Ohnotnik-B is the X-47B, Neuron or Taranis. All of those had concealed engine exhausts. The Ohotnik is bigger, iirc.

An observation. The Russians advertised the T-50 (prototype for the Su-57) and its first flight very quickly. it will be interesting to see if they do the same with the Ohotnik.

@anza

First flight said to have taken place at Chkalov... So, maybe more than one airframe? Maybe some maskirovka?

I know they haven't officially released picks yet and there was quite a kerfluffle over the leaked pics. Might have moved it and played games for security reasons.

That is true. But when I see that pictures of it....I can't help but think it's an unfinished product.
