What's the difference in an app and putting a shortcut to ATS on you home screen?

I'd love to get something like this. I put up a post regarding if there was anyway to get notifications to the desktop. A chat group would be good. I think people are looking for alternatives to facebook. So this would be the time to get it there. Anything that would notify me of messages or new posts or reply posts to ones I'm following would be great. I like to get notified quickly so I can respond. Otherwise if I get tied up, I forget to log on and check. So - in short - yes please.
