I agree, but that's because 50% of eligible voters take part. How many of them actually know what's going on? How many diversify their information?

Asking the government to fix this won't work. I'm just saying it now. People either wake up and demand more or it gets worse from here. We are the solution, not the government.

It's our job to be critical of the media.

But our lazy citizens want the media to tell them what to think and how to vote. This is societies fault.

I hate to break it to people, but we have to be skeptical of anyone who makes profit from ideas, so we have to read many ideas and read between the lines.

First things first: large corporate media empires are not journalists.. that’s a lie or misconception.

That’s why attacking such companies is not attacking journalists or the free press.

Journalists and real news orgs, which seem to be on the endangered species list, are to provide a check on the gov.

People need to break their mind from these companies.

The problem is not the 50% of eligible voters not taking part. It's the 50% of INeligible voters taking part that is the problem. IMO

Hear me out, if we let the government go after any facet, whether or not you or I think it is even real journalism, it's just a matter of time till they do go after real journalists. Obama went after real journalists and whistle blowers by weaponizing the archaic Espionage Act.

When the government does this, it discourages real journalism.

We have to stop consuming corporate media, until then, nothing will change. Fines won't change a thing, you and I both know this.

There’s a role for government here. Regulation, especially of electoral issues.

To your point though, it can’t be ignored that a small list of companies control most information people receive. These orgs are allied with or owned by the same orgs/powers that have bought out our political processes.

We must address the information hydra.

These conglomerates have lobbyists, they pay for campaigns, they dictate coverage during elections.

Do you trust the government to be fair with them while knowing it can negatively impact their campaigns?

I agree with you on almost everything, but the government is the last entity to trust with regulating their regulator.

That's a job for us, and it's really simple how to deal with it, we stop consuming corporate media.... While it's a long shot, it's the only other way. I can promise you, nothing good would come from the government having a role in this.

Do you trust it wouldn't be used for political purposes? Do you think that the public wouldn't be outraged if Fox was targeted for a story CNN ran too? Do you think that it's possible that while Democrats held office they would go after one entity, and when Republicans take office they wouldn't double up in revenge?

We have just as much of a responsibility of what we consume, and how much we trust it as how we vote.

The establishment republicans and dems are about the same.

But if we are hones, we see 90% of the msm, academia, cultural influences, and tech ceos and companies are establishment democrat.

Use private citizens and the courts to hold the media accountable for something they jumped the gun on without having enough facts, causing damage to people.

That is a much better approach than giving the federal government more power in regulating media, use existing laws.

I agree as well........the MSM should be held accountable by people who have been thrown into a negative spotlight unwillingly that results in a drastic change to their lives.

I couldn't imagine having the national news negative spotlight on me.....it would be a virtual nightmare.

Greenwald is great, and yes a legit journalist.

Long before Greenwald, Noam Chomsky was doing the same.

As far as ‘Trump apologist,’ I despise this false binary that’s been set up and enforced on both sides. It’s true that critiqueing the dem establishment, media, or post 2016 hysteria now puts one under suspicion.

But that goes the same for questioning a lot of social justice/identity politics dogmas.

As someone else noted, there is a certain secular religiosity to it.

This is why increasingly I only have serious discussions with friends I know can handle open discussion.

In my experience, amongst many people anything less than 100% agreement on these topics is seen as virtual heresy. I’ve been ejected from a few echo chambers for failing to echo. There are some echo chambers and ideologies on the right too.

He’s brilliant. Obviously left leaning, but he’s a real one, not a fake establishment hack.

I wouldn’t be surprised that he’s virtually shadow banned. He has called out the military industrial complex, dishonest politicians, and media manipulation for decades.

It’s easier to shadow ban him than call him a racist or white supremacist, as that would raise the ire of liberals world wide. He’s still held dear by many.

I consider myself the same, maybe even a 1960’s-1990’s liberal. Before modern identity politics/open borders took over. Also, back when free speech was still valued and leftists distrusted the FBI/Cia/big brother.
