Trainload of vintage T-34 tanks wows Russians

A train carrying 30 vintage T-34 Soviet tanks has pulled into a station near Moscow after an epic journey from Laos in South-East Asia.

That's impressive, still in working order and all!
Historical pieces like these will end up in either museums or private collections.

Lets hope those private collections are not criminal in intention. A tank is still a tank even if outdated.

Russian media say Laos, an old Soviet ally, gave the tanks as a gift.

Nice to see the old boys welcomed home with such verve , not sure about blessing a tank though.

Just because something is old doesn't mean its still useless.

Most in the US still think the western powers single handedly beat Nazi Germany in WW2 when it was actually Russia that kicked their asses. Russia took an initial beating loosing millions of people but came back and destroyed Germany's ability to wage war. Russia kicked Germany's ass.

not to drift topic but we probably contributed more with aid (food, trucks, jeeps, clothing) than in combat, at least in the European front.
don't get me wrong I'm 100% Murcan, but must give the devil its due.

Interesting to learn that the T-34 was based on a design by J. Walter Christie (American) and provided a big surprise to Hitler when Germany invaded Russia
