RIP - Andy Vajna film producer

Andy Vajna Hollywood film producer has passed away on 20th January 2019 in his apartment in Budapest, Hungary. Although not many was aware, he had a long battle with cancer. He was 74 years old.

Along many movies he produced Rambo I,II,III, Total Recall, Terminator 3,4,5, Die Hard 3, just to mention a few of big hits.

He was born in Budapest in 1944. In 1956 at the age of 12, he fled from Hungary and with the support of Red Cross he made his way alone to Canada. Later on he reunited with his parents in Los Angeles, USA who fled Hungary separately. He studied cinematography at University of California, Los Angeles and then joined the University's Educational Motion Picture Department where he worked on different projects.

Later in his life he returned to Hungary and became a commissioner in the Orban government, in charge of developing Hungary's film industry.

Vajna is survived by his wife, Timea.
