I do hope the government opens up as soon as possible though.

Trump tried in 2017/2018. Offered full amnesty for DACA recipients, in return for a border wall. Schumer shut-down the government 2 times, instead of working with the President.

Real leaders eventually run out of patience with hard-nosed opposition, and deliver what the people want.

I hope he does declare it an emergency to get the ball rolling. I also hope he requires Congress to cut more pork from the spending bill. The fraud waste corruption and abuse have become ridiculous. I think the digitizing of dc is a must. Why waste so much money on security and maintenance when these clowns could just meet and do their voting and arguing over the internets.

since youtube still exists, and they haven't pulled the videos of democrats calling for stronger border security a few years ago, I think the overall fight will be laughed at by most. At least the one's with brains AND integrity. (yea, both of them)

Yep, they played that hand wrong.

If Trump declares an emergency to fund the wall this could turn out to be an overall win for the Nation.

1. Government can reopen.

2. Everyone can "claim" a victory

3. No one is humiliated in a political sense.

4. The government can get back to business, hopefully for the purpose of making our country better.

I understand that there will most likely be all sorts of court challenges, but while those are being worked through, at least the IRS can start working on tax refunds and federal workers will get paid.

I am trying to see a bright side to something most of us have no control over.

I do pay attention and read all the article, not just the first paragraph of things. I am perfectly capable of analyzing what is happening by reading both the pro and cons on something, reading apposing viewpoints then trying to figure out what is actually happening. Maybe you need to be more open minded and analyze both sides, each incident needs to be analyzed seperately to determine if something is real.

Trump is a pushy Jerk but is capable of compromise, the Democrats formed an entity that is not capable of compromise, not one of them voted against their party line even when their party was acting irrational. At least the Republican congressmen have a conscience and are still working to promote the best interest of the people in their districts.

I think we need to tear down the walls to our hearts and listen to what Trump has to say without walls around our hearts, our souls.

We need to listen with open hearts and open minds.



Let's take the walls around our hearts and place them around Mexico instead.

It was just mentioned on FoxNews that the President wants to re-open the government before the next Federal Payday, which is this Friday January 11th.

No need to make employees and contractors suffer because Democrats refuse to increase security of U.S. citizens.

OPM does the payroll for most of the civilian federal government. They do close out of Tuesday for payment on Friday (Thursday if you do direct deposit). I wonder if a Tuesday or Wednesday opening will be in time for the paychecks to go out for this pay period, or if they will do a special pay just for the element of government shut down?

A large heavy duty wall will cut down on the casual crossers. There will be ways around it but a wall will make it an expensive proposition. Especially if it's maintained and detection systems are integrated into it. Essentially all the riff-raff will have to go through a port of entry.

Combine this with mandatory Social Security number verification on employment and it will get uncomfortable being an illegal in the US.

Now it's true that illegals do much of the nasty work that Americans won't touch anymore but that can be solved with a guest worker program.

Unclear at the moment. Congress (Senate and House) have to vote to reopen the Federal Government. They'd better plan on not sleeping between now and Friday. It's their fault anyway.
