Basically, they are embedded in the legion of appointed, unaccountable bureaucrats who run the bureaucracy of the legion of alphabet agencies. They're the ones you usually never know by name who operate behind the scenes. They keep their jobs regardless of who runs the face of government, and they all have an agenda no matter what the stated platform of the ones in charge happens to be.

Haven't you ever noticed how despite what this or that candidate says he or she believes and wants to accomplish, only certain things get done no matter the fight? That's the agenda and the theory is that they run it.

That's why so many of your introductory responses said to ditch the idea of labels. They're our overlords and you're not part of them, so no matter what you think or which "side" you think you're in, you aren't in.

The deep-state revealed itself in that anonymous NYT op-ed, where he/she admitted they were actively trying to frustrate President Trump's agenda, the very president and agenda that the American people voted for.

Khashoggi was also an agent of the House of Saud though, and working on behalf of Qatar at the same time.

It started as a supposed small elite group of boogieman people that the far right believed were secretly running the show in a 'Wizard of Oz' behind-the-curtain kind of way (oh, and they are also globalists, another boogieman word). But even then, no one could point to who it was or where it was coming from. Then it ballooned into basically anyone that said anything against Trump. Now it has become even more meaningless than it was before since the term is thrown around with complete ease, disregard and unbelievable frequency (it may remind you of other fear-based words tossed around that have been stripped of all meaning like socialist, communist, Marxist, etc).

You aren't wrong that it's a mindless talking point designed to detract. But a lil more Alex Jones than Fox (at least originally). It then filtered out from there.
