For some reason, I always get chills when I hear "almost ready" when it comes to defence projects...

But that is good news: will certainly bring some useful benefits. Still, I do wonder exactly how the degree of ambition of 6th gen aircraft correlate to technological timelines...and ultimately risk.

Wonder if the current F-35 engine shortage may be because they are quietly gearing up for an ADVENT drop in? An extra 5,000lbs thrust would be handy, to say nothing of actually increasing time between maintenance - from what am hearing its not just those damn fan blades cracking early.

There is 0 hope of Russia putting money into a 5th generation naval aircraft, the Checkmate AND also developing a 6th gen fighter concurrently. Something has to give.

F-22 airframe is the best in the world in kinematics/stealth , with a modernised airframe and new technology in it it could stay the best for a lot of decades, new engines, new avionic new stealth it is the lone supersonic cruiser without afterburner and the physic stay the same. May be new wing too like the FB-22 project...
