If it seals itself shut so the pressure builds up over time until it cracks below sea level allowing the seawater to contact the hot magma then there could be a big bang like 1878. As long as it regularly vents like it's doing now to keep the pressure down there's a bit less to worry about. Never safe though as we've seen.
