I don't think the wars pulled us out of the recession, that helped the "defense" sector, which is pretty isolated.

It was the printing of trillions of dollars, and making artificially low interest rates. Ironically it almost tanked us harder afterwards.

Pulling out of Syria is one of the few in the super positive collum. If Mattis can't hang with that, his ass can kick rocks.

Supporting our allies is a bad thing? Syria was the final straw. Mattis and Trump have strongly disagreed on just about everything for 2 years now. Trump has broken almost every military and strategic alliance the US has, against the advice of the entire defense community.

Mattis, while a respected leader, seems to be a neocon. He wants a permanent presence in the Middle East engaged in combat operations. He wants generation after generation of soldiers to continue to fight.

I was 17 on 9/11/2001 and 29 when I deployed to Afghanistan. My older brother deployed to Iraq in 2007 and Afghanistan 2009.

I have friends STILL deploying to these places today. Man, enough is enough. Syria today, and hopefully Afghanistan and Iraq very soon.

His insistence that we have to play nice with "allies" who generally take advantage of us, are currently bleeding us dry for military dollars, meanwhile, they enjoy a pseudo-socialist system. Socialism only ever works with other people's money and stops working when other people's money runs out. Our military spending is what keeps Europe from speaking Russian, yes, but is that fair to us? No. Not when they treat us with disrespect and expect us to follow them down the path of globalism and global dictatorship.


I have a lot of respect for James Mattis. I love a guy who can focus on what the military is actually for. But I'm glad he was never in a position to MAKE policy at this level and only effect it on the orders of another.

Don't know about you or anyone else, but I think it's really cool to have a president that isn't afraid to share his thoughts whenever he wants however he chooses, without having to hide behind his puppeteers, speechwriters and teleprompters.

I take hard stances, but subscribe to no tribe.
