I dont know about that, the gas price riled people which led to what we're seeing now. Intollerable tax rates by Gov Monkeys are crushing it's Citizens. It's wrong.

The foundation of your argument is wrong.

The people that are protesting do t live in Paris. They have to drive for work/a living. Because they live outside of an urban area The gas tax hit them the hardest.

The people like you, is whom the French middle class are protesting. Your post basically just said, let them eat cake....

How do you think farmers take care of the fields, and get your food to market? It isn’t public transportation.

It's really got nothing to do with Frexit. I'm not sure which sources are reporting that.

It's got much more to do with income inequality in France. You know, the exact same reason we should all be out rioting in the streets.

The income inequality though is a direct result of government tax policy.

Initially, maybe, though I have seen plenty of anti eu banners in the last few demos

It's not about the tax hikes anymore as Macron made a u turn and froze energy prices in the last 4 weeks .
What has come up on the raw footage is some of the protesters taking pictures of themselves on their knees .
This is because children were caught up in it and detained in this way , hands behind heads on their knees . There is video

Hopefully the rest of the world is paying attention. These environmentalism taxes are in reality poverty taxes. In that they'll keep the poor poor and send the working stiffs teetering on the brink straight down into poverty. I am a big believer in taken care of our environment, but we have to be smart about at the same time. This ideologically blind environmentalism is deleterious. This brand of environmentalism has always been an elitist endeavor. It even used to be largely right-wing before the great pole reversal on the issue in the late 90s. But as the saying goes, the more things change the more they stay the same.

A US Congressman would recommend calling the UN. There might be a smarter move though.

The middle class isn't eating their pets yet...So the Socialists still have a little more time to tinker in France.

Here's the story today

Child rioters, some as young as 12-years-old, were among 153 arrested at a single high school as violent protests over the President’s policies threaten all-out anarchy in Paris. Terrifying footage shows riot police armed with batons guarding the youngsters from the Lycée Saint-Exupéry high school in Mante-la-Jolie - 30 miles west of the capital. The officers are heard shouting at the children and threatening them with violent disorder charges, including "participation in an armed crowd".

I can't imagine paying $7.00 per gallon. Paid $2.05 yesterday (Chicago).

Used to be, the French cops were part of the people, now they seem to be apart from them.

I have nothing BUT sympathy for the french, Macron is the most right wing leader they have had in perhaps half a century or more, he is for the rich, the wealthy and the corporation's (the investments OF the rich) while at the same time attacking the poor, dissolving the French welfare system and privatizing on a huge scale there national asset's just like the TORY's over in the UK.

The only time I do NOT like French is when they slit our truck drivers tires which is something they have quite a reputation for and those doing the slitting of our (the British) truck driver's tires are usually Striking French Truck Drivers whom our truck drivers are not even competing with.

But in this case Macron is a right wing stooge and a puppet of the bilderbergers and more precisely the Troika - He is also now there most powerful ally in Europe after the fall of Merkel (whom is now only a figure head and almost devoid of her old powers).

So what happen's when the elite feel threatened, well they send in the troop's to quell the Rebellion just like the original French Revolution eh!.

By the way PEEPLE no offense to you but that opinion in your opening statement smack's of right wing bigotry and bias and to be frank you really don't make a good point at all in that first statement, in fact your opinion in that post was appalling to say the least.

I have zero sympathy for those protests. They're violent and stupid. They protest because the world is changing and they can't adapt. I have no car, because of the environment. Owning a car will be a thing of the past soon and all their attacks on the police, shops and monuments won't stop that.
If life is too expensive move out of Paris. Stop buying so much garbage and use public transport. But oh no that's Macron who is to blame. They elected him into office. It's not like he was advertising anything different than what he does...
Violent dumb #s level 30.

I don't believe you that the reason you don't have a car is just because you care about the environment.

So, this is where the money is going to go from the global wearming gas tax. To pay for the troups to stem the protesters who are representing the working class of people in the country. I guess France has become a dictatorship now with this new Liberal president in charge.

So Trump has put his take upon these riots being related to carbon taxes ? He's going to do what suits him we know that already .
These riots today are because of the children which were being put on their knees, hands behind heads against the wall and in lines in a playground and being forcibly threatened by men with guns masks and armour, representing the French state and Macron .
This is the kind of emotive reason which brings that many people out . By way of reference the London riots of 2011 were caused in large part by a police execution in front of women with pushchairs .

Macron is a card-carrying Socialist...whom got elected as an Independent.
'La République En Marche' is a liberal, leftist, progressive party.
