Romanian Gold Artifact testing?
Why would that have anything to do with the subject?

It goes to show that the ancients did assay precious metals.
Besides, there were Greek cities on the eastern border of Dacia. And contacts with Thrace (and Dacia) are documented.

One of the links I provided states that there are a great many examples of ancient coins that show cut marks - checking for plating is the hypothesis about these.

Maybe someday I will do a little more research on the subject

Not a bad idea.

That's not fools gold. That's an important alloy that the ancient world held in very high esteem.

Edit to add:
NM. I see others already stated such.

Not as high as gold.
The Archimedes story already proves that Royalty was already worried about the quality of gold they were getting by 250BC which was one of the points I was trying to establish.
So that means there was probably already a pretty good knowledge of metallurgy and gold refinement at the time.
I'm mostly interested when and how aluminum first became abundant and the history of aluminum, the dates involved with the refinement of metals, causes and effects, inventor.

Well not really, but something to do.

en.wikipedia.org...

I do find it funny that the Archimedes story may have a link to the story of the "orichalcum" find near Malta, anyone know the general date of the ship found, and how she went down?

www.math.nyu.edu...

The addition of Hiero II and Archimedes makes for a better story about the wreck and find.

good luck
