Technological advance is exponential.

Objection! - Speculation.

The following article sort of proves him right:
www.kurzweilai.net...

But not everyone agrees that such exponential trends, as outlined in the article, will continue. Some researchers actually doubt that a "technological singularity" will ever occur, so I guess it's safe to say that some speculation is indeed involved.

Sometimes the ET's that occasionally visit our planet, use various forms of communication with some Earthlings:

Visual & telepathic communication --- Earthling eyewitness accounts of actual foo fighters, mental telepathy, geoglyph carvings and laser holographic images.

I've always thought about that. Humans seem to judge the technology of aliens as though they're judging our own progression. Whatever planet they're from will have a completely different set of resources than we have here. That's why we're limited to around 36,000 mph and aliens are cruising quickly from planet to planet for different resources.

If we could make it to just one planet, one time, for the resources needed for one spacecraft capable of those speeds, we'd be able to transport all we need, even if it means hovering silently over alien farm houses at night to try and catch a glimpse of what living creatures on foreign planets do.

Earthling videos are probably a main attraction on other planets. The Milky Way's Most Dumbest: Caught in the Act

If you could get into space and travel at the speed of light for 2.74 years, you could come back and see what Earth will look like in 1,000 years.

Why make SETI spend time and money chasing around UFO reports when so far they've failed at the only thing they've been trying to do? It's like asking a fisherman who has caught no fish at all to pan for gold as long as he's by the river.

He is extrapolating that an alien race would be exponentially ahead of us, from a technological standpoint.

Our growth has appeared exponential because it has been, but if this trend doesn't continue indefinitely... There is no reason to assume an alien race would be so far in advance of us that we would be helpless.

If it's truly exponential for both parties, but has a plateau, all we would need to do is skew the curve slightly for a massive gain. Moving an exponential plot one unit earlier, will result in an exponential gain, not linear. We could realistically catch up to any technological deficit, if there is a maximum plateau.

As well as the astrophysicist from Harvard's comments regarding Ouamama...in particular that it's highly reflective surface was more consistent with it being an artificial constructed object than it being a natural object

No. Albedo was not really part of that analysis.

In an interview in sputniknews. Andrew Loeb said this was from a study that came out after his paper was published.

And he has plenty of time on his hands waiting for a fish to bite, so why not make the most of it?
